What did you use to rip the movie to your HD? Was the movie an original or a download? How big is the file? Do you want to put it on a DVD5 or DVD9? What burning program are you using?
Sorry for all the questions but the more info you give will enable ppl here to give you the best solution with hopefully minimal problems during playback.

sounds like you're doing this successfully. What's the problem you're having?

When you say

Are you talking hard drive or dvd?
Remember both Shrink and DDVD put the files on your HD so for most movies that's roughly 13 gig. After several movies w/o deleting these files that can eat up your HD fast.
If DVD media you can set Shrink to compress a little more so you don't burn to the end of the disc.

you actually have to manually delete the stuff that is stored on your HD, Unless you are using some thing like CloneDVD which has a box that says it will delete the file when finished

The way i do my dvd back ups are by using DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero 6.6.0.13 works every time. After burning completed you can manually delete the temp files.(just make sure you make a note of where you saved them to.)Hope this helps..

dvd decrypter also has an option to delete ISO after burn. You can setup Shrink to burn with Decrypter, and if that option is checked your compressed output is deleted (although I just saw a thread where it didn't work for someone). If you rip with Decrypter you will still have to delete that rip though.

When i burned it to a dvd (the second time) it would say that i almost used up all of the storage and i would not be able to add more data later. The 1st time it worked flawlessly, then i repeated the burnig and i messed up about 5 dvds until i learned that i could burn it with an image in DVD Shrink. Now all i have to do is click on the image file and it opens up easy cd creator and i burn it. Now im wondering though how did it work the ist time? I didnt even use DVD Decrypter, i just chose full disk on shrink, backed it up as two regular audio and VOB files on my hd, burned it to a dvd and it worked!? now im trying to find out how it worked the first time. By the way how do i backup dvds onto my computer that i have burned before with xcopy? I keep getting errors.

After you click backup you should have the option to put the dvd files into a folder, make an ISO image, make an ISO and burn with Decrypter, and possibly some other options. I think Shrink by default opens Nero and burns with that, although I may be wrong. If you have Nero installed this may have been it, but I don't know why it only did it that one time unless you told it to do something different the other times.

Are you trying to copy the movie to your hard drive and just keep it there? Or copy to another blank disc? If you want to keep the movie there, lets say to watch it off your PC, you could use DVD Decrypter in ISO mode to rip and then watch it using PowerDVD or WMP or whatever you like. If you want to copy it to another disc you should just be able to do a disc to disc copy, but avoid doing it on the fly (meaning that you should put image on your hard drive first). You could also rip using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode then burn the ISO with Decrypter. DVD X Copy (at least last time I used it) will not touch burned copies.

[Edit] The errors may be caused by poor quality media. What brand media did you use to make the first copy of it?

yep, cyclic redundance check errors are usually the result of poor media quality. If you buy media in stores, I recommend the Verbatim DataLifePlus, make sure they say made with "Super AZO Dye". If you buy discs online, Taiyo Yuden will be the best choice, make sure you buy from a reputable site like supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com, or newegg.com.

Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the quality of your media. Download a program called DVD Identifier (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) to check out the media. Then you can check their database to find out things about the media like compatibility and reviews. Good luck, and in order to check the quality in DVD Identifier it needs to be a disc already burned.

I think it is a lot better to rip from an orginal dvd, more quality picture and no cyclic errors

I believe the Super AZO Dye Verbatum are made by MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) and are quite good in quality terms. I just got some Super AZO Verbs and they said it right on the box.

Yes it can be easier to copy from the original. You can still get the lovely CRC errors on an original though. Some causes: bad press, dirt, fingerprints, scratches. Try cleaning your disc also. For the hard to rip discs I use DVD Decrypter.
As for copying a copy losing quality - as long as it was done on quality media, no errors, playback is fine & no further compression the quality will be the same.
I am surprised you're getting CRC errors with verbatim.
Are you burning at your burner's max speed? What type of burner is it?
