Still need the name of the software. Also slow your speed down to 4x thru 8x. As you read thru the forums most would strongly suggest you never burn at max as there is a possibility of errors which sounds like the problem. Verbatim is a pretty reputable dvd media unless made in taiwan. Before you go out and buy another brand of media i suggest burning one dvd @ the above speed and report back so you can see if that is the problem.

The packaging will say where its made. If you need a resident expert on verbatims just post and I'll pm the 'verbatim addict'.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but aren't all Verbs + or - made in Taiwan. In fact, it is one of the best media that is made in Taiwan.
Matt903: If you want to find where media is made, check around the UPC label. You will find majority are made in Taiwan; few are made in Japan e.g Sony, TY, and the ones made in Japan are generally superior (imho)

ALL Verbatims are now primarily MADE IN TAIWAN~ :) you caught it pretty quickly LABOY~ :)
@matt
hehe, yes, i think you had Fuji on the membrane before making that comment~ :P Fuji branded has BOTH made in japan and made in taiwan.
as Laboy stated, the 8x dvd+r Fuji MADE IN JAPANS are terrific media, genuine Taiyo Yuden w/ the YUDENoooT02 coding~ as in my sig.

The software that I am useing is Primo DVD. I will try to lower the burn speed. Should I try TY DVD? Or stick with Verbatim? Why is the bad spot same on every disc? Master problems? I am new at this could use all the help I can get. What about silver DVDs any differance? What to ink jet print.

did i hear Verbatim's calling :)
oh no i'm gonna get confused now as there's 2 matt's in one thread..
we could do with finding out exactly which Verb's you're using. Download dvdinfopro (free)and click on the 2nd icon from top left and do a media info check. Post the details here so we can ascertain the exact media code.
also, download Nero info-tool from here - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/neroinfo.html
Run it, note down the following, and paste here. Here's what mine shows -
click on the drive tab, note down the firmware version
click on configuration tab, note down the DMA fields, ie on or off
it may be worth clicking on the aspi tab, and check if anything's corrupted

Grrr just opened a pack of verbs (stole that word from creaky) did a backup, ran a scan with dvdinfo pro and the sucker read as prodisc cmc. I'm hotter than fish grease at the moment. Every 2 or 3 out of a 50 pk read as prodisc cmc. Quality of burn was decent and not too many errors but to be scammed and get prodisc I'm disgruntled...maybe I shouldn't have tried to cheat on mistress ty (:. Ok maybe I need to stick to one brand master it and then experiment.

@matt72
may i ask WHICH verbatims you bought to have that coding??? i have YET to see a PRODISC CMC coding before~ those 2 are different manufacturers and from what i know or have seen, are NEVER in the media coding together, they are completely separate entities~ :P
that is VERY unique to say the very least...it's either CMC MAG or PRODISC, not both in the same line. unless they merged or cmc mag bought them out, i would like to know WHERE and WHAT kind of "verbs" these are...please let us know~ also, where were they made, in taiwan i assume...very interesting....

oh deat maat72, you seem to have found something disturbing there. I know i don't know all about Verb's but i would have thought it's pretty hard to get the CMC etc, these days unless it's old stock datalife and not datalifeplus, or some other Verbs that are neither datalife nor datalifeplus

I bought them from Sam's Club since they were only 29 dollars for a 50 pk. Made in Taiwan and I should have known something was not right since they were dusty as if siting in some warehouse for a few months. I will be returning them as I examined the package they seem to have been "re-packaged". After searching I too as kivory stated prodisc and cmc are not packaged together. If not in a rush (less than 24 hour period) I would write the company directly and do a formal inquiry. Not that 29 dollars is a lot but based on principles and consumer rights I want what I paid for period. Should have been clued in that no datalife or datalife plus label which was weird but once again pricing. Damn wholesale clubs!!!

@matt,
yes, definitely RETURN them...how so do you mean when they are "re-packaged", like someone took various spindles and just combined it into 1 to form 1 complete spindle? lol or was there some sort of indication that the spindle was previously opened? then put back together and shrink wrapped?
anyways, the point is...you got your hands on some VERY OBSCURE verbatim media that i have never even heard of~ if they were made in taiwan as you stated, i am guessing that MAYBE at one time in the past Prodisc and CMC MAG were in cohorts with each other before they split? i have no idea, possible scenario i guess~ :P
as with media codes, unless manufacturers actually MERGED companies, i could not even imagine seeing a PRODISC CMC coding together..i was in disbelief when i read your post earlier...but, i guess SOME things slip through the cracks only to be discovered at a later time by some unsuspecting person...sorry to say, that THIS find was NOT a treasure for you matt~ :P
@creaky
Sam's club is like a wholesale conglomerate over here in the US...i am a member of a different, competing wholesale to public club called Costco~ they are very similar they sell everything from food to clothes to electronics to pharmaceutical supplies to tires and everything in between~ :)
the costs of items available at these types of wholesale/clubs is usually significantly lower than standard retail, hence the buying power and BULK offerings they have there~
who knows how long they keep their media in the warehouses for...that could be years for all i know~ but, SOMETIMES they sell media for a GOOD price, but i don't keep up with those sales very frequently as i live about 30 min. from the nearest one~

http://search.samsclub.com/eclub/search/search.do?action=search&s... not the exact link as it was a closeout/ liquidation special. Took them back the manager inspected them and explained they were 'cracked open' during shipment. Upon further inspection via lot number they were clearing out old inventory and my money was returned along with a 50 dollar discount. Of course I put it towards the purchase of 100 pk fuji dvd-r spindle. Once again i learn the lesson of looking for a discount.

i usually just recommend the ASPI thing as it doesn't hurt to install it, however when it says 'corrupted' it does Need to be fixed. Am not worried about the Autorun but the DMA. If any of the device show DMA to be off that means performance is gone to pot and could be one of the reasons you're having problems. More likely it's a combination of things and i'm just trying a process of elimination.
Very important here is the other bit i mentioned earlier - Quote: we could do with finding out exactly which Verb's you're using. Download dvdinfopro (free)and click on the 2nd icon from top left and do a media info check. Post the details here so we can ascertain the exact media code.
You say you're using Verbatim DVD-R's but you could be using the older, crappier Verbatims (ie manufactured by companies such as CMC) so we need to delve a little further to find out exactly what Verbatim you are using..

glad to hear you got your verbs straighted out @sams's club, that $50 discount is ALWAYS great news for compensation~ i wish i had that kind of luck~ best wishes for your fujis, hope they are MADE IN JAPAN~ :) the media coding on them SHOULD be TYGO2 for the Fuji 8x dvd-r (MIJ), those are the good ones, TY at it's finest~
