Me an buddy built basically the same computer configurations. SOHW-1673S DVD burner, using DVD Shrink 3.0 and Nero OEM that came with the burner. However, on his, while burning the ripped movie, Nero gives a warning about 15% into the burn and in the dialog says Illegal Disc. Has anyone encountered this, and does anyone know how to solve this?

This leads me to believe it's a media problem. I've heard the Ritek G05's are not too reliable. I'd suggest getting different media.

Also, it appears that you don't have an ASPI for Windows, which could be the problem too. Here's an excerpt from a different thread explaining ASPI:

<11>What is ASPI and do I need it?
The term 'ASPI' is an acronym that stands for: Advanced SCSI Programming Interface. All the following terms are synonymous: ASPI layer, ASPI drivers, ASPI interface. The term 'SCSI' [scuzzy] is an acronym that stands for Small Computer Systems Interface. An ASPI layer consists of four files that 'lie between' various programs [software] and certain devices, such as CD/DVD-ROM drives and CD/DVD burners/writers [hardware]. Software programs such as CD digital audio extractors [commonly known as 'Rippers'] and CD-writing utilities such as CDRWin use/require ASPI drivers to 'communicate with' SCSI devices. Many people don't realize however, that the files contained in an ASPI layer are also used in systems that *don't* contain a SCSI adapter, or SCSI devices .. for things such as ripping CD audio and burning CD/DVDs.

could be the ASPI thing, that may do it too. Maybe your other computer has an ASPI already installed for Windows and this one doesn't. Also, check into a firmware upgrade. http://club.cdfreaks.com/ is a good site for that stuff, they really know what they're doing there.

The Nero log doesn't lie, and it says you have NO ASPI for Windows. This could very well be the problem. It's not that big a deal to get an ASPI layer, there's a link to one in my previous post that explains ASPI. You said the hard drives are different and the hard drive is where ASPI is stored. So...... I built my own computer too and went very smoothly, but I had ASPI issues too and now they're fixed using the Adaptec ASPI.
