Has anyone who has being using TDK x8 for PS2 backup's noticed the dye on both the disks have been changed. I used to use these two disks all the time to back up as I was getting 100% success quality backups, but have started getting problems with my new batch that have just arrived. The media code for dvd-r was TTH01 is now TTG02 and the dvd+r was TDK 002 is now Moser Baer India
MBIPG101R04 (WTF). These new types are not worth a monkeys. The dvd-r skip a lot and the dvd+r don't even effing load at all. I have sent a support letter to TDK to ask what's that all about. I live in Scotland by the way and usually buy the dvd's from Tesco's

Sounds like you bought good old fashioned fakes. Ones from India are garbage, you might aswell not bother. You need the ones from Japan.

I bought them from Tesco's and they had the exact same packaging as before. Surely Tesco's don't stock fake DVD's

They prob dont know anything about DVD's. Unless TDK have outsourced production to India but I havent heard anything. Like you said, the media code should be TYG. Would take em back to Tesco and tell them they are selling cheap Indian crap TDK's that shouldnt be fit for frisbee's let alone DVD's

I used TDK 4X and they worked just fine, although i have not bought any in a few months. I usually stick with Philips 8X DVD-R because they work great. Have done many, many games on those with no problems.
Also have heard good things about Verbatim discs.
Just save those disc for movies and see how they work for that. I know i tried Memorex one time and for games they just would not work, but for movies which are not quite so picky about the media they worked alright. Try backing up a movie you have on them and see if that works so you don't loose the money you spent on those.

After searching the web I have found out that TDK make both the TTH01 and TTG02 at x8. Anyone know which is the newer dye? They come in completly the same packaging thought. How the EFF do I tell the difference. I have been trying to source TDK TTH01's Online but can't find them. Anyone bought any online or know of any good sites.

Thanks
