So I have been working on this for quite a while and have not had any problems backing up my dvd's until recently. I currently use DVDSHRINK and DVD Decrypter and they worked great until today, now I seem to have a problem. Not just with one DVD either, I have tried Assualt on Precinct 13, Lemony Snickets, Princess Bride and National Treasure... all of which failed to write back to the blank disc with this error...
I/O Error!
Device: [1:1:0] SONY DVD RW DRU-710A BY02
ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 2A 00 00 00 43 40 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors: 17216 - 17247
Sense Area: 70 00 02 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 30 05 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
Any help from any person would be great. I use the ISO write files to re0write them to the blank disc, and like I said before I have been doing this for quite sometime and never had any problems. Thanks again for the help...

Quote: I/O Errors are NOT bugs!!!! (well, not 99.99999% of the time anyway)
An I/O Error is a way of displaying a problem your drive had with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem though). Unrecovered read errors, Seek errors, Servo errors, Focusing errors, ECC errors, CIRC Unrecovered errors etc. are all your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc". Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (http://www.rpc1.org), try it in another drive, and get another copy.
As you can see it's usually a sign a bad media, try another brand TY,Verbatim,Maxell etc.

sony media always worked before with decrypter.
IT just made no sense to me.
Thanks for the help tho.
when i use sony media with decrypter it would not reconize burner.
But when I use verbatim it worked.
So I just use alc. 120 for the sony media now.

It is very hard to convince folks to try a different brand of media. Thank you NINVIN21 for believing us even though you had your doubts. Some people get rather irate at the suggestion that it could be a media problem. We see a lot of this here and all the members( Jim, Arnie, Rotary) posting here know it when they see it. I think some people would rather be told to get a new computer than to switch brands of media.

lol, Yeah your right.
I can't really blame it 100% on the media tho
the software (DVD Decrypter) did not reconize my burner (sony DVD-RW DW-D22A) with that kind of media (and I still dont understand why because it worked in the past)

I dont know why you had such problems with Sony Media, I have the same burner and Sony media not a problem yet, and Sony Media is listed 1st class media (www.nomorecoasters.com) although you probbably got another manufacturer media or summ.

@NINVIN21
I have had trouble in the past with Sony media, and two of my burners. A firmware update helped the matter and I was able to burn. It is better to check out the website for your burner and see what is recommended media for your model. I have never had a problem with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, and I have five burners that are all happy with these brands. Even though a media is labelled as first class it does not mean you cannot get a bad batch now and again. Also I highly recommend reading the DVD tips on DVD Plus Video it has some great info :~)
