I have downloaded unleashed, its xvid, 23 fps, MP3 audio. I select PAL dvd encoding option in the app, go through all the usual and yet tmpgenc recognises it as 291 minutes and 180 percent of the DVD-R capacity.... when its only an hour and a half in reality. Its done this with another movie before... whats the problem this is driving me nuts.

If you open the video in WMP or related program does it play? Does the length show properly there?

If it doesn't your file could be corrupt.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it

this happened to me too, it's a pretty simple fix though. apparently it happens when the audio is vbr, the file keeps encoding past the last frame. just go into settings and under advanced you want to check and double click the "source range" filter. click the "move to end frame" button then hit the "set end frame" button. then encode as usual.

A suggestion: replace the VBR MP3 with a CBR MP3 as described in http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/190445 ('sticky' FAQ I made and that no one reads...) or load directy the uncompressed WAV you extracted as 'Audio input' in TMPGenc, as I wrote in http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217 .
