what settings in Nero burning rom?

but i would rip with DVD Decrypter and shrink it in DVD Shrink both apps free...

dvd shrink can use Nero engine to burn or DVD Decrypter (use decrypter) change the settings in DVD Shrink not to burn with nero

Hi there,

I never used a USB burner, but I assume if your USB port is v1.1 ONLY I can just assume the speed will be pretty slow.

v1.1 is 12 mbits MAX

If it's USB v2.0 there must be a problem, since USB2 is 480 mbits if I recall.

Post us a failed and/or succesful Nero Logs, maybe we can see what's going on in there !

I saw that too rotary, looks like only a cdrw/dvd-rom combo.

You need a dvdrw to burn dvd's

- good grief!, you will have to try to close more background apps/programs, but 256MB is not a lot of memory. You're in virtual memory territory, which is a portion of hard disc, at which point your hard disc will start 'swapping', ie thrashing which is bad news especially while you're doing a DVD of any sort from the hard drive. Consider a memory upgrade.

Power calibration error
- Here's a v good start re Power Calibration errors - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/93406

also, quote from "http://www.nero.com/en/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#9 - "

"9. I get a 'Power calibration error' or 'Calibration area (almost) full' error message. Why?

Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder.

Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC).
This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.

If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.

Please try the following solutions:

Update the firmware of your recorder. Please check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
Try another brand of CD-R or CD-RW media.
Try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, the power source in the chassis could be the cause. As a test, try to take the recorder out of the external chassis and connect it internal.
Try different configurations, such as taking the CD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.
Send the recorder in for service."

Latest version of Nero is 6.6.0.14 - http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php - you'd need to download the relevant one

Firmware is what teaches your burner about newer types of media, burn speeds for that and other media etc, so if your firmware is way behind you might have perfectly good (or crap!) media and the drive will struggle to know what to do with the media

here's the actual link to download the firmware file itself -
http://www.samsungodd.com/Lib/popup/Download.asp?path=FW_FWDownlo...

the utility to 'flash' ie update the firmware file above, is here - http://www.sec.co.kr/product/odd/support/download/sfdnwin.exe

- I haven't come across this particular one before, but i've found the info on how to do it - http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=37412#37417

Updating firmware can make your drive unusable to the extent that you'd have to get it 're-flashed' by the manufacturer, if, for instance, you lose power to the drive during the upgrade.

Have a look at the link i provided, see if makes sense, and report back
