Ok, I read somewhere that you can hook up a IDE hard drive to your playstation 2. I am guessing it goes in the expansion bay. my questions are how do you hook it up as i dont see a connection for an ide cable and how do i secure the hard drive as i see no screw holes. id really like to put my old 160gb hard drive that i was useing for my pc untill now in there if possible. also what file system does it require?

hard drive connects to the network adapter, has the IDE connector on that, which then screws into the ps2 via 2 holes

your HDD will work, maxtor are the best for fitment, western digital may need work to fit the adapter, and some seagate models have issues. overall maxtor wins

you will need an os for hdd, either HD advance or HD loader. HD loader is free, but you could download HD advance if you have swap magic and boot it that way

get hd loader from here

http://members.shaw.ca/PS2_BOOT_CD/

it will format the ps2 for you, you then just put the game in and copy it too the hd

thank you very much for telling me how it works. I will soon get a network addapter for my ps2 so i can install my hard drive, oh and my hard drive is maxtor. also i had heard about HD loader, thank you for the link.

and one more thing. do they make network addapters with wireless built in, that i would be able to use with my hard drive for the ps2? if not could you point me in the right direction for a wireless network addaptor that can plug into usb or preferably that will plug into the network addaptor via the rj45? Ive been looking all over but all i can find is for the pc.

Linksys has some useable wireless gear that you might be able to use, just google for it.
