You can't go wrong with Verbatim. They are quality discs in + or - format! Get 'em!!!!

The school of thought here at AfterDawn usually is:

Japan-Good; Taiwan-No Good... with Verbatim being the most notable exception. Personally, I have only used TY and Verbatim with no problems at all (I did try a free 20 pack of discs once that came with a purchase I made, and I got 20 coasters!!!)...

i heard a Verbatim thread.....

make sure they're datalifeplus. All current Verbs are coming from Taiwan at present.

@lisa32 - have you got a product code for those Verbs ?, like most media it's just making sure you get the correct ones...

k, my mistake (i'm in UK so not familiar with your stores). When you're next there look at the product code on the packaging and do a search for the code. You should be ok if it's newer speed discs, ie 8x and above, but it never hurts to check. Or you could do a search nopw and take it with you next time. Have a look here, i went on Verbatim overload that day, there's links within links too... - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/191595

yup, they're my buddy kivory666's fave Verb's, just slightly behind his fabled TY's. $35 would sound good to me i think

i feel so special, creaky knows my favorites and special interests~ he's my counterpart in the Verbatim/TY camps :)

yes, those ARE my fav. Verbs, they are EXCELLENT media lisa...you got a VERY good price on them as well~ w/ no rebates, that price here in the US is VERY hard to beat~ :) even amazon.com has them for $34.44 last time i checked..but you got them SAME day, which is an added PLUS to waiting for them to arrive online~ :)

They sure do. Where is Creaky when you need him. The "Verb God " must be sleeping. I think my Nec will overspeed these to 12x but I will have to make sure the dash media is MCC02RG20 I am pretty sure the + is MCC003. Creaky if you are out there " do you have any experience with this media and an Nec 3520 or 3540.
Thanks

bless him, i'm here!...

..have been outide on the pontoon as its over 32C or something here in UK today. I'm popping in and out cus its too much out there and can't even lean on the boat as the metal's so damn hot. Plus my PC looks like it wants to overheat which is odd as it's fairly cool and shaded in here. Hang on let me have a look at your post..

i haven't got direct experience with the NEC drives. I was gonna buy a 3520, just cus so many ppl rave about them, but mainly cus they're like £35 plus shipping. But, a) i don't 'need' a second dvd burner yet (all my ripping is done from my dvd-rom/cdwriter combo plus all cd burnig done on there, thus not wearing out my sony too much). and b) NEC won't stop for breath, they release a newer drive like every bloody week!.

as to the the Verbatim question, my buddy kivory666 uses the MCC003 exclusively when he uses Verb's i think. I use the MCC02RG20 exclusively as -R have done me proud for soooo many discs. I have gone back to 4x burning though, on my Verbs and on the TY's as my eldest rung me up the other day saying ad my film is skipping. It was a TY done at 8x but her player is 6yrs old and i guess a little picky. I'd only just gone to 8x burning and am more than happy going back to 4x for a long time to come..

@ALAND - thank you, it's appreciated. It is indeed Father's day here in UK, just dropped my kids home and had a nice time with them as always.

There was an article about Maxell manufacturing 16x media in sept or Oct 05. I'll bet its real good media. Made in Japan by Hitachi.

@ aland

i can easily burn my Verbs, in either format mentioned earlier @12x on my nec..i have the 3520, not the newest 3540 though, i still have 4 other burners sitting in the bay waiting to be utilized, so i decided to wait before i picked up another NEC> :) i can burn both the 8x dvd-r and 8x dvd+r format on my Verbs @16x on my pioneer 109~
naturally, i don't burn THAT fast regardless of the media, but, it HAS been done by me personally and the occasional "skip" in the film IS present when burned at that high of a speed~

i feel overspeeding is fun just for testing purposes and to really see the maximum potential of your drive, but, to shave a few min. off your burning time for backups, TOTALLY NOT worth it as the chance for error greatly increases burning @12x or @16x~

@ "verb god"

been gone for the weekend, glad to hear you had a good Father's Day as well~ juss went through another spindle of my 100 Verbs MCC003s over the last 2 days~ yeah, kinda crazy, but, just felt like getting my "hands dirty" over the weekend~ :) i bet my burners are dying right now wishing i would stop...they need a rest, so, im here to say hello and good day to you all~
