are you trying to put more than the 4.3 gig allowed to your disc .

Keep in mind that manufacturers quote the capacity of a writable DVD disc in decimal (base 10) rather than binary (base 2) notation so a 4.7 GB disc stores 4.7 billion bytes [4:700,000,000 bytes ÷ 1000 = 4,700,000 KB ÷ 1000 = 4,700 MB ÷ 1000 = 4.7 GB] . Expressed in binary notation (as is typical with CD-R, CD-RW and most operating systems) the same disc has a capacity of roughly 4.38 GB [4:700,000,000 bytes ÷ 1024 = 4,589,844 KB ÷ 1024 = 4,482.27 MB ÷ 1024 = 4.38 GB] .

You need to turn the dma settings back on

This is a typical media failiure. Even though your DMA is off and ought to be on, your disc was burning correctly. Your disc had all the video files burned and the lead out portion of the burn was underway and almost completed when the error occured. About the only thing that causes that is a bad blank disc that has a problem at the outer edge. Try some Ritek or Taiyo Yuden and see how it goes. I did not look up the Media Code indicated in your log, Are you using Maxells?

If you are using Shrink to rip with, try setting the file size a bit smaller so you are not burning out to the edge of your Maxells.

Edit -> Preferences -> Change the Drop-down menu from DVD-5 to Custom then reduce the size from 4464 MB to 4364 MB.

If this works then you may want to increase the size a bit, maybe 4400 MB.

in addition to the other guys' replies -
Quote:
Nero version: 6.3.1.11 (Nero Express)
- a couple observations, any reason to using nero express instead of burning rom ?. that version sounds a bit long in the tooth now either way
Quote:

- at some point you could update the burner's firmware as you're a couple versions behind now.. - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934

- i've been following a few of these lately and am becoming of the opinion that this error is just a symptom, not an actual cause - here's a few similar threads -

As per the other guys, sort the DMA out - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html , then see what you think of Nero being out of date. The firmware isn't necessarily in need of immediate change i don't think, as it your media is recognised

; i 'think' Maxell's are pretty good but that's only from reading ppl's posts about them, i don't use them myself

Rotary usually sees what i miss, that'll teach me (again doh!) to home in on just the logfile. Ah well, when i attack logs i do try to be unbiased anyway, i just say what i see (in the logs).

naw i just attack them as i see them, i've done so many that there's usually only the same ole things wrong. it's like if the DVD Shrink target limit was automatically 4300mb or so we wouldn't have to keep seeing it in Nero logs, and if XP wasn't so crap with DMA we wouldn't have to see DMA being off in the log (ok so i s'pose we can't blame Bill Gates, i don't somehow think it's his fault that half the world uses his software to rip DVDs LOL!)

i dunno, i just saw one, one day and looked thru and knew what was wrong, then the other couple bits fell into place. it's those massive nerovision logs i find tricky, but then if i'm honest those logs are just full of padding, so aren't too different. Other than the nerovision logs do seem to have more of a coded error (ie gibberish geeky code) when they go splat

i never have problems either, well the odd one, but always know how to fix it. i don't learn too much from fixing problems like these, but i do pick up a helluva lot of other stuff along the way, all good stuff
