Okay, there's probably a high chance that there's a guide for this, but because I have no idea of what any of this terminology means I just decided to post here. I am sorry for being such a newbie.
Bear with me...
I recently got a movie from a friend in DVD-R format. Right now it's in WINRAR format. It came in like 15+ files, som I'm kinda confused. Here's an example of how one of the file names look : "fighter.in.the.wind.2004.ntsc.dvdr-deleuze.r55"
Is it possible to get some program to watch this movie without the use of a burning it into a DVD? I heard you could use some kind of program called Alcohol, but Im really stumped.
Thanks in advance.

Hi 4evaNoob
have u decompressed it to get the whole thing.
1)If not download WinRAR and that will decompress it.
2) when decompressed if its in DVD Movie format use a program like Clone DVD to burn it to DVD and then u can view it in your DVD player.
3) If u want to watch it after Decompression off the hard Drive it should work either using:
a) Cyberlink DVD Player
b) Windows Media Player
I hope that helps
Keep me posted
p.s wat exactly the end extenssion of the file e.g Mpeg, VOB, AVI Etc...

barhan9: okay, when you said decompress...did you mean extract? there isn't a function for decompress. and there's about 31 files that have the WinRAR icon, but the rest of them don't really have an icon (as in that they have one of those blank things with a window inside).
what type of file is it? --- well, the one with the WinRAR icons are WinRAR files. however, the ones without the icons say that they are a R** type. (the ** stands for the number. there's more than one file so the numbers change. also, when i open one of the WinRAR files it says that it's File img type file.
--sorry for the confusing info and my helplessness.

use WinRAR to extract the first rar'ed file, and from there it should automatically extract the rest to leave you with an .iso image (i believe--never really use Winrar).

hi
never seen WinRAR do that and say files are too big before? it can pack and unpack any size?
i wonder if they are currupt? you should just click first in rar set and it picks up the rest and unloads to a folder of your chioce...
or do you mean the extracted files are too big for a dvdr?

well, okay. I've been wondering how to extract these RAR files. You can either extract the RAR'd file or you can extract what's inside by double-clicking what's inside. I simply tried both of them with "Extract Here". First off, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get 3/4's through and at that point it gives me a message saying something about how it's too big.

if its too big when extracting,it can mean only a couple of things
FAT32,or no space,
i bet FAT32
Quote: there should be a ?????.SVF file thats the one to open the others i think?
sfv files are there to ensure the download is complete, and has no relevance to the downloaded rar files once it has finished

was gonna get involved in the winrar stuff, then saw the 4.2gb file thingy, so you could well be looking to convert to NTFS...provided it's win2k or xp

Quote: what problem would there be with the FAT32?
FAT32 can only handle single files up to 4gb in size, thats why you get the error with WinRAR.its reaching the 4gb threshold
you need to convert your hardrive to NTFS,as suggested
