If you pick up some -R's post back with the mc code. I may have to pick some up for that price.

Here's a pic.
Best Buy just gives the standard info in the description.

FYI: same DVD-Rs from Verbatim, also +R's regular price is like 23.00 for a 50pk at SAM'S CLUB. So if you don't make it to BB in time...

I was heading to BB to get some Verbatim DVD-R also. I want discs for backing up my PS2 games as well as movies.

I have a question for the Taiyo Yuden users...I can only find them online and want to buy a 100 DVD-R spindle for backing PS2 Games. QUESTION: I need to know which Taiyo Yuden 4x or 8x DVD-R to buy that I CAN WRITE ON WITH A SHARPIE (i don't use labels or printers)or should I just get RIDATA Branded G05 4.7GB 8X DVD-R for PS2 Backups?

TY

@fdc1970

I have both the 4x and 8x Taiyo Yuden and both are excellent quality. I prefer the 4x but either way you will get good media. I bought the shiny finish and use Sharpie's no problem. My two cents :~)

we switched from sam's to costco, costco only has the 50 pack of tdk......gotta find someone with a sam's card to get my verbs...

had to get an emergency stash of dvd +r last week while waiting for amazon to deliver my 100 pk of verb dvd +r, went to fry's to check things out and found one maxell 50 pk that was made in india, all the rest were made in Tiawan. had never seen any made in india before. i ended up getting a 25 pack of maxell from walmart, made in japan.

@jer2911tx - OMG you're still waiting for those Verb's, they're definitely still going round the world in 80days

the verbs from amazon came in on friday, i think.
amazon does a crappy job of packaging, but i don't think any were damaged.
my neighbors have a sam's membership, and we have costco. costco has tdk dvd +r, and, i guess, sam's has verbs, so i may have to just get my neighbors to pick me up some next time i need an emergency stash.
will try to avoid ordering from amazon next time....still waiting on my rebate from newegg on the 100 pk of verbs i got from them last time.

Picked up the 50 pack of Verbatim -R today at BB for $19.99. Also checked at Costco since I had a day full of errands, and they only had TDK as mentioned earlier. The only Verbatims I had previously used were the datalifeplus, but can't seem to find them anymore locally. I am just finishing a 50-pack of Maxell -R's (gold top) and I really like them also. Manufacturer ID Code is MXL-RG02. Can't remember where I got them (think it was Micro Center) but I bought 2 and gave 1 to my son.

I too bought some of the Maxell gold tops from WalMart and they have worked out very well, the id was the same MXL-RG02 :~)

gotta love how almost EVERY verbatim thread treads so closely on the edge of Taiyo Yuden media~ :) it's like a match made in heaven...

those verbatims initially mentioned are great media, and as arniebear has already alluded to TWICE, that is the correct media code on them~ :)

for those wanting TYs...i just wanted to point out that arniebear is AGAIN correct in both the 4x and 8x purchased from online...i am a sharpie guy myself and my MANY backups on TY, every single one of them have my messy handwriting scrawled all over them~ :) they play flawless nevertheless~

i personally prefer the ones catfreak mentioned, as those are MY favorites~ :) creaky is in the dvd-r camp, while i am on the other side of the fence w/ my dvd+Rs :P

good luck to all of you that pick up these verbatims~ happy burning.

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

my desktop liteon is +/-, but my laptop only does dvd +r, so i have to stick with the dvd +r verbatims. started out with tdk and maxell from fry's, both had a few problems because i had no idea what to look for. creaky got me hooked on verbs, now i just have to find someone with a sam's card to grab more since costco only carries tdk.
arniebear did hook me up with a good emergency source, walmart has maxell made in japan and made in taiwan, just check to make sure you get the good stuff, not a bad price for an emergency stash.

i do the messy sharpie thing, too.
not sure who it was, but someone pointed out they do the sharpie thing, and color code movies (comedy, action, etc i guess)
i just separate them by genre, keeping chick flics up front so my wife doesn't have to dig through all the guy stuff.

jut tried to backup stand by me last night, and kept getting an error where it couldn't read a sector. i cleaned it twice and ended up giving up on it.
