I've been unhappy with my LG GSA-4160B. When I started burning DVD's it was fine, but now every media I try to burn it goes bad. First I started burning with a media named "Smac". Cool! But now even this media do not burn any longer. The only media which burns is the DVD+RW (Philips). I've already done a firmware update too and did not work. The list below shows the media I've tried to burn and it goes bad:

*Smac -R
*ESN -R
*T.W. Universal -R
*Ridata +R

The drive burns CD-R(W) cool!
The funny thing that's my dad has a drive like mine and he burned all media I've listed above and it goes cool. :-(

Uhhhh...It seems like your using weird medias....not recommended, the quality and manufacturer of these medias is not always the same, so its a media problem, so get some verbatims, or Fujifilm +R, TDk, Maxell, Sony....Dont get Memorex (sucks,sucks) or Hp (CMC mag...ARGH!!) so try using 1st class media (this web page may help www.nomorecoasters.com) and I assure you that if you use 1st class media you will get accurate results, some drives are picky with media so that may be your problem.

Hello Xandaum,

At what speed are you burning all those media ?

Have you tried burning them at 2x ?

I burn everthing at 2x, and I'm still 100% even with 4 types of elto cheapo media.

We have:
--------
2x DVD-R so cheap, DVD Identifier doesn't even know the manufacturor.
4x DVD-R E3works (LEADDATA01 if I recall)
4x DVD-R Mitsumi (Father in law bought those, don't remember Media ID)
4x DVD-R Ridata (RITEKG04)
8x DVD-R Maxell (MAXELL something 04 I think)

I just have some left, but trust me, my next order will be with http://www.blankmedia.ca (I live in Canada) and I will buy 4x Taiyo Yuden and yes I will still burn at 2x :)
