Ok, well, ive heard about a program that burns .avi files straight to dvd disc alone without converting them to any other file. Apprently it plays in a dvd player that supports dvd-r/rw dvd+r/rw. It sais it can upload as many avi files to one disc (as long as it fits).

Second thing is that this program also can create menus, chapters and other sutff found on a dvd like credits.

Im positive it starts with 'I' but im not too sure..

Let me know if you know what it is, thanks in advance!

P.S If i find it, ill let you poeple know!

mmm, i think it was my dads mate that told him about it, he used it for putting his mates wedding onto dvd, he made menus and chapters for it and everything. It sounds quite proffesional, but i heard its easy to edit menus etc and you can put your own pictures in and stuff.

hi

it converts files! like dvd santa and Nero visionexpress, but i have never used intervideo apps...

i can get you all you want with a free app except the menus part! its called avi2dvd and has 4 built in encoders and is a free app! its the bomb i recommend HCEnc encoder!

hi

sorry but i have tested dvd santa and the quilty of the output files was not a patch on CCE encoding with avi2dvd..

nero visionexpress is the same quailty as dvd santa! but not as bad as cucusoft man that sucked!

i have put an avi in to avi2dvd and got dvd and the files look EXCATLY the same as if i were looking at the avi! man i was bowled over, i have tested many apps but still come to film machine and avi2dvd and second to those divxtodvd

i am sure you are right. i like dvd santa because i thought it was easy. the only experence i have had with cce was trying to encode a dvd 9 to a dvd 5 i could not figure out how to do it. cce is a little to complex for my knolage of dvd encoading maybe sometime i will have the time to sit down and figure it out.

hi

yeah its kool its all part of debating here, but you dont do anything with CCE thats the beauty! avi2dvd does the lot!

you just tick whats in the pictures (few clicks) then let it run, man its easy, you just find the app via avi2dvd and set passes i use 1 only!

oh it also does dvd to dvd (main movie only!) like DVDRB / CCE but easier i think...

well that explains why i coud not get cce to work. i got cce, run it and tried to encoad a video from there i did not realize you needed other software to go along with it. with avi2dvd can you encode dvd 9 to dvd 5 or just AVI to dvd?

i think you can use CCE on its own but need to set everything up!

yes to dvd to dvd (rip main movie only though!!! then load ifo to avi2dvd) use CCE v267 with this app or the built in encoders

yes to avi (1-2-3 files at once to make 1 movie)

also film machine is like avi2dvd and can use CCE 270, for avi (multiple) to dvd

they both shrink files to fit dvdr5 size

I got myself an AVI file I want to convert, I also got avi2dvd with cce. I have a few questions before i use it. what I set my audio stream at, my aspact ratio, how many passes I with cce use and what difference it makes, and what I do with the options sub 1,2 and 3 I will apreceate your help thanks.

hi

what I set my audio stream at

384 = 5.1 sound
192 = 2.1 sound

my aspact ratio

16:9 = widescreen
4:3 = normal

how many passes I with cce use and what difference it makes

if you set it at any setting 1to4 it still does first scan before it starts to analyse for best encoding procedure, so set it to 1 and it does a 2 pass, 1 may take 2/3 hours 2 will take 3/3 and half hours (quicker on second pass and third, so on) i use 1 pass

use cce 267 as highest for this app / film machine can use 270

and what I do with the options sub 1,2 and 3

ignore them if you dont want subs files loaded (you need he subs to load the subs in film!)

aslo use short link extensions like C:\avi\myfilm CD1.avi

to load multiple files rename to a set eg:

myfilm CD1.avi
myfilm CD2.avi
myfilm CD3.avi

load first of set

Hi again, why don't you try getting WinDVD Creator 2? It works a treat and you can also make your own menus and scene selections. I really like it, and advice it to any one with AVI files. I have only tried one feature too!
Erm also, This question is for you Rotary, you think it would be possible if you could add a few tutorials on all this dvd stuff on my forums.

Cheers for all the help...

Hi all, i didn't see the point of making a new topic, as the question im going to ask is the same subject. Intervideo WinDVD keeps mucking up, when i try to select DVD-/+ when im about to start burning, its not there. I can only burn it on DVD on CD HQ, VCD, or SVCD... Any one had this problem before?? If not, please let me know if there is another program ican create menus for... Thanks for all your help in advance, CAllum.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also, it doesn;t have to convert the avi file within the process of burning, i can do that sepretly.
