It started a while ago so I went ahead and cleaned the laser, but it kept coming back and can no longer be fixed this way. Is there anything else I can do, other than doing that laser recalibration thing?
HD Loader doesn't play my favorite games corerctly :(
Sounds like your laser is going out. Your last hope would be to tweak your laser to intensify it's strength. I don't have a link to a guide, but I know I have seen them before. Somebody on this forum, http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/index.php could most definitely let you know where to find a tutorial.
Well, there isn't much else you can try and do to get your drive reading your discs then. I have heard of many people intensifying the laser to read discs better, but hey, do whatever you want to do.

Cleaning the laser, adjusting the laser hight, and adjusting the voltage.
Worst case is you spend $40 and get a new laser.
Speaking of which, Pimpdawg, do you install lasers? I have an old V5 still in my closet that could use a new laser. That is the only thing wrong with it. Then i would have one in the living room, one in the bedroom, and one for the car to go with the 2 7.2" LCD's, power converter, and FM modulator set up.
I have only done one and it was on a version 7. It was a HUGE pain to try and get it installed just right, but I did manage to get it working. We can talk about this elsewhere though....
