What software will cut frames from movie files?

I want to catch the video up with the audio. is there a way to do that? i started with some avi files, and used dvd shrink and then used either nero or decrypter to burn (don't remember which), but the problem is actually with the original avi files, so i'd like to just cut out whatever i have to of the video, and match the two back up.
