A screeching sound coming from the PS2 with some backups???

screeching sound especially when it loads it's kinda loud too. My solution to this problem is I burn at 4x and then the backup will play without that sound and work fine.

But can someone tell me what's making that noise and does that damage the ps2? and what exactly making that it's not mechanism's scraping on each orther is it? or it's just the laser making that sound while it moves fast up and down tthe disc?

It's only happen maybe a dozen times or so now I power off right away whin I hear that noise by the way I have the V12 ps2.
