I burned destroy all humans again with a TDK dvd and now it runs great, no freezing. HP brand dvds are not worth using, I have had the most problems using them.

ive been having a problem with destroy all humans aswell. ive downloaded the iso for it and i copied it onto a philips dvd using magic iso and on mode 2/xa. i then inserted the disk into my ps2 and i said disc read error. it also does this with medal of honor european assault. the first 2 dvds i copied work fine tho so it cant be my dvd writer.
is mode 2 the correct mode to use?(this mode worked fire with my other 2 copies)
i also heard that people are using Nero to copy there dvds but i didnt see a mode selection screen.
just wanted to check that i should be using mode 2 before i try using Nero in its defualt mode (mode 1?) so that i dont waste a dvd

p.s im using a DMS4 modchip

also if i am using the right mode does anyone else have any other ideas?
thnx

I tried the retail version today of Destroy all Humans. It loads but then begins to click at start screen and will not go further. I have a DMS3 mod chip. Star wars battle front and Godzilla save the earth both do the same thing. I also tried backing up all three and backups using different methods with no luck. Other games work fine. I also have a new lazer. Very strange problem. does anybody know if there is some sort of new protection detecting mod chips??? The game works fine in a non mod ps2.

I'm having a strange problem running Destroy all humans. I'm using swap magic v3.6 with a slim ps2. The image size is 4.3 gigs, same as some people. Now, when i make it to the main menu screen, instead of locking up (as was happening to some people), my laser goes crazy and starts ramming itself into the ps2, or rather stuttering. I'm not sure what media i'm using for burning (totally blank dvds), but they've worked fine with God of War and Rumble Roses. I've already burned two dvds at 2x, no good. Having this problem makes me sad as it seems that everyone else is running it fine.

What you just described is happening to me with a back-up and retail copy. I'm having the same noise and problem. I have the DMS3 mod chip with PS2. I had to give up! Very strange.

Successful backup using NEC DVD writer, Alcohol 120% at 2.3x of 4.3Gb ISO, Sony DVD +R on my V7 PS2 with Swap Magic 2.0 and slide card. Works beautifully. I've been administering so many anal probes, my dog starts to look at me funny.

:/ I used a NEC at 4x and 2x using some blank media. All the more reason to try another brand of DVDs.

I don't quite understand what your saying. The backups gonna vary depending on where your from etc, do you know how to backup ps2 games using DVD Decrypter? because you don't have to back it up in any special way, you have just got to try with DVD Decrypter, good media and a sensible burning speed and it should work fine.

Well it worked fine for me...... First whats the exact problem? does it skip or freeze or just not boot? Whats your boot method/mod-chip? What version game is it PAL or NTSC? What versions your ps2? And what media were you using burning at what speed? have you got other games to boot successfully? It worked for me with a PAL version, swap magic 3.6, V7 ps2, using ritek G05s,burning at 4X

I used DVD Decrypter to burn at 4x, and it didn't work. Destroy All humans shouldn't need anything special. That's why I think it's the media, but the media's already worked with 2 other games, so it's odd.

Well I dunno did you download the game? that could be dodgy. I just did a straight off backup with nothing changed with the PAL version and it works fine.

Err my info:
First Slim ps2 model.
Swap magic v3.6 dvd
NTSC version of Destroy All humans Size: 4:3 GB
Burner: Lite-on DVDRW SOHW-812S
Media: Unsure
Burning Software: Nero and DVD Decrypter

2x with Nero, nothing
4x with Nero, nothing
2x with DVD Decrypter, nothing.

My problem: the laser goes crazy once I reach the main menu, it keeps stuttering and moving towards the back of the ps2.

The medias the only thing i can think would be causing the problem....
If you don't know the brand of your media use dvd identifier (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) to find out the media code, then youll know which brand they are.

Well, then all I can think of now, is the iso. I'm using the solops2 USA full dvd.

all I can say is keep trying, if you've downloaded the game you might as well rent the game and then back it up that way. Then you'll know if its the iso or not.

Yeah, but I probably won't find a copy, since this game's pretty new.

My burn was Solops2 as well. All I did was Unrar it, place a Sony DVD+r (bought from Target for $10.50 10-pack w/ jewels) in my NEC DVD-RW burner, loaded up Alcohol 120% registered copy and burned at the slowest speed the disk allowed (2.3x). I've been playing the game quite a bit and have absolutely no problems with it. I run on a V7 PS2 with a Swap Magic 2.0 disk.

Only thing I can think of why some others may not be working is PS2 version. Download and burn to a DVD, DVDLoader v7.0 from swapmagicfix.com.

Boot up PS2 with Swap Magic
When it tells you to insert disk, swap for DVDLoader, press X.
DVDLoader will tell you to swap disks.
Put in Swap Magic AGAIN and press X.
DVDLoader will say Replace disk by EA Method.
Put in Destroy All Humans, hit X.
See if your laser goes out of whack.

I've found that most games I burn, if I have a problem with them, I load up DVDLoader and all my problems and cares go away. Off the top of my head, DVDLoader has helped me play Ratchet 3, Psychonauts, Champions Return to Arms and God of War (patched). Give that a shot.
