how would you suggest this compares to AnyDVD/ CLoneDVD2... I have been using this combo perfectly for my backups, however i have noticed with some DVDs which i havent scratched up, it is unable to even recognize the disks... anyways, i had a bad experience yesterday with it...i bought the new coldplay CD X&Y and it did not do a great job at copying, sounds like the music randomely fades, and skips every once in a while... anyways, if it isnt going to allow me to listen to music properly (the copy protection cds dont work in my car at all!) then i have no use for AnyDVD and want to use a better program for DVD backups... so what are your thoughts... also is DVDFab located in a country unaffected by copyright laws...

I tried four times to backup "Hitch" with DVD FAB express (from a Chinese software company). All failed, either resulting in error message or freezing computer. DVD Decryptor, on the other hand, was successful on first try. My conclusion would be that this new freebee needs a lot of work and refinement to ever replace Decryptor.

i like the fact that it is an all in one solution, whereas AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 are seperate packages... anyways if it is better than CloneDVD2 then i am willing to pay for it, what do you think?

DVD FAB express Looks to me like a work in progress, premturely released. Non updated Decryptor still a superior no cost alternative.

problem is that it does not compress video... im referring to the DVDFab that costs money, not the free version...

With Shrink or Recode being adequate compressors, the greatest need is for Decryptor programs that update as fast as the newer protection schemes.

You can read the test that were done with this program over at Digital Digest here is the thread

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?postid=271939#post...

Also this program is okay for older disks that are unaffected by any of the new protection. I tried it on Hitch and it did rip, however you could not acces the files with either Shrink, Nero Recode or CloneDVD2. It may be free but it is really not that good, could use a lot more work. My two cents :~)

ok, my opinion is this: the program itself is very good. The video seems to be very good, as does the sound.

Hi, as I understand it you have to buy the complete programme to read and back up in one operation. I did so and having installed a dvd reader to compliment the dvd burner, I put the disc I wish to back up in the reader, put a good quality blank dvd in the burner and press the button. The process is seemless so far. I have backed up about 20 discs without one failure. The only options it gives you though is a choice between backing up the complete disc or the main film. So far so good.
