Have you tried a different type and brand of media? Maybe your drive doesn't recognize or like the media you're using. Have you used this media successfully before this latest problem occurred?

Try using DVD Decrypter to burn the image file. If that works then the problem may be with Nero.

Doesn't recognize the media now for some reason. What firmware do you have? latest should be JS07. Look here. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2026

I would next try the following:

Check the device cable by unplugging and then plugging back in. Replace if you've got an extra.

Use device manager and uninstall the device including the controller. Upon restart, Windows should reinstall the drive when you restart.

You didn't mention if you've tried different media. I would get a hold of some rewriteables for experimenting.

I had an external that refused to fill the buffer and the problem was the cable. Mine burned OK however even though unbuffered, just extremely slowly.

The log indicates unrecognizable media. Why it does is the question. Until you experiment with different media, that possible culprit cannot be ruled out. As Mort81 indicated, you need to check your firmware.
