Im so tired of hearing about how somebody used decrypter and shrink and everything worked fine and others say i cant get it to work. The reason is cuz most people dont have the tech savy to work those programs effectively. With new movies coming out specifically sony movies they have new encryption. It isn't anything AnyDVD can't handle, they will always be up to date. What u need is a one click program like 1 click dvd copy or dvdxcopy platinum. They both work flawlessly and r ease of use. Yes they cost money but they also work everytime.

@ flaboy use your decrypter to write file (just click file under mode) I just finished coach carter worked perfectly
@ ustop never had any trouble with decrypter or shrink thought you would like to know in fact only way I've ever needed to back-up any thing (hitch, spanglish, are we there yet not one coaster) never found either anything but easy and extremely useful

Hey 8nights, I said most people. If those programs r so easy to use how come there r about 10,000 thread on this site alone asking help me it didn't work for me. They r nice programs and work great, plus there free. But what seems like basic math to u might seem like trig to someone else.

@ 8nights, what did you use and how did you use it? I just tried both movies you spoke of and they go all the way thru and then burn to Nero and then it says no disc in my player. I am using dvdd and then shrink. Dvdd in file mode and not iso mode. Should i be using AnyDVD?

tia.

"Coach Carter" is nothing special - it's simply just another piece of cake period. It took me 15 mins to read using DVD Decrypter, 20 mins to encode with DVD Shrink, 8 mins to back up with DVD Decrypter, and overall it's exactly 43 mins. In addition, "AnyDVD, DVDIdle Pro and DVD43" should be able to handle this easily - just a note that's all.

** Use DVD Decrypter to (MODE, ISO, READ R, then Decrypt) it into Hard Drive.
** Open up DVD Shrink, File, Open Disc Image (runs about 30 seconds)
** hit BACK UP and Shrink should automatically starts to encode
** once it's done, it should automatically back up with DVD Decrypter

(Note: if you want it to back up using DVD Decrypter, then on DVD Shrink - you must set "BACKUP DVD" on "Target Device" to DVD Decrypter (ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter). I've had 100% successful using this method rather than to back up with Nero.

@dedaround,

No prob.... You'll be fine to MODE, ISO, READ R, then Decrypt using DVD Decrypter into Hard Drive. Then use Shrink to do the rest and once it's done, you should burn/back up with DVD Decrypter and you'll be a happy camper. This is the most easiest and safest way to back up according to my experienced.

Like I said above on my earlier post, if you have "AnyDVD, DVDIdle Pro or DVD43", then you should be able to Open Disc on Shrink, then click on Analysis, once its done, you can either do a "full or re-author" on Shrink, and after that - it should automatically back up with DVD Decrypter as well.

I knew when I started this thread it would be fun. By the way I used shrink with AnyDVD burned with decrypter but decrypt will do it by itself and dvdfab decrypter will also do it and I'm pretty sure you won't have any problems with dvd4free with the decrypt and or shrink combinations. luck be with you

By the way I'm not saying coping these programs is easy(which it was) I'm saying these programs work and if they don't work for you search your setup or media for problems. Again good luck

Ok, I tried DVDD read r then DVD Shrink, file then iso image. Then it went to write in DVDD, but then i put it in the player to test and I am getting a disc error.

Am I doing this properly? Or am I missing a step. The file DVDD goes to burn is "movie".MDS Is this correct or did I miss a step

thanks in advance.

Hey guys I could really use some help i just started using these programs as I had sumone else who has it set it up on my computer..

I followed the folling process:

"Coach Carter" is nothing special - it's simply just another piece of cake period. It took me 15 mins to read using DVD Decrypter, 20 mins to encode with DVD Shrink, 8 mins to back up with DVD Decrypter, and overall it's exactly 43 mins. In addition, "AnyDVD, DVDIdle Pro and DVD43" should be able to handle this easily - just a note that's all.

I also tried this one as well:

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/shrink_decrypter.html

Overall I did not have any success and the movie i was tryin to copy was coach carter.

This is the error that kept coming up during the buring process, it would get to about 8% then this would pop up...

I/O Error!

Device: [3:0:0] HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B A104 (D:) (ATA)

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated... I may have smthg not set up right, I really dont no ive tried sum of my other DVD's as well and have not had success.

This typically indicates Decrypter is having issues with the media you are trying to burn to. It could be a smidge of dirt, a scratch, or just all around poor media the program does not like. What type of media are you trying to burn to?

Interpretation: Tracking Servo Failure
Tracking servo failure comes off to me as sounding like it detected a problem with the drive. The tracking servo is what moves the laser assembly around to read diffrent parts of the disc. Seems like it is more of a hardware problems then software. Try cleaning your drive, or as stated see if different media works to rule out media :~)

@dedaround if you haven't already fixed the problem let me offer a my view lets see you get the image all the way to compressed and ready to burn (almost there) then when you try to burn you get an error message saying your drive does not recognize the media this sounds like a media problem if I am right what kind of media are you using brand and -r,+r,rw, dual layer let me know one option to remedy this problem is a change of media the other option is a little more difficult a firmware update this I've personally not had to do there are many experts here that would be happy to explain. for now let us know what your media is

@ ustop sorry to disagree with you but I think installing and uninstalling is more complicated than clicking about five or six times to use these free apps once you know what clicks
to make that is the purpose of this sight is to help and educate those wanting to learn from those that have made it work.I haven't personally seen alot of this is just to hard posts I have seen alot of help me understand post's spread the knowledge It is our own freedom.

I also think the use of these two apps (more so thanothers that run in the background) allows for a broader understanding of the processes involved and reasoning that might lead to the next author of such great programs such as dvd decypter and dvd shrink

Hey guys thanks for replying and showing some concern.. I had this computer just built in March and I dont no what the problem could be.. I have burned music Cd's fine from march till now and yesterday when one of my buddies who builds computers as well came over to put this dvd program on he was having problems.. He said he has installed these programs on many of his friends computers and has not had this error come up before.. he believes it could be something to do with the burner itself, because we tried about 7 to 8 different things and wasted 8 Cd's, at first we thought it may have been coach carter, but after that we tried a few of my other DVD's and it was still coming up the same error. The discs I have been using are Pro Disc 8x-R and these are the same ones that my buddy was using as well.. so that is why i think it may be a hardware probelm. I have an LG GSA-4163B and we even went to the LG website and updated the hardware and tried to burn the DVD once again but still no luck.. so right now I am out of options and I;m not sure what to do.. and to tell you the truth I dont no a whole lot haha if sumone gave me a step my step process I could figure it out easily tho.

Thanks for the replys guys I appreciate it

Ing
