I have a DVD I want to rip into an AVI or MPG so how do I go about it? What program do I use? Anyone that helps I will hook you up with a copy of the movie.

Read the definition for SVCD and VCD from here:

SVCD produces excellent quality video that most of the modern DVD players can play, but one good quality movie backup takes 3 CDs (while good quality DivX takes 2 CDs).

You can determine if your player is capable of playing SVCD discs by checking it from here:
