Hello everyone,
I have checked the threads about PSX ISO's but they didn't really help much.
I got Xenogears, I had to download it cause my original game doesnt work anymore. It is an Image file and I wander how to burn it?
I got Nero and stuff, but everytime it simply fails. I get the PS logo with weird letters and all that.
are there any settings I need to worry about?
The image file is 685 MB big.

To play it on your PS2, you'll probably need Breaker Pro.
I honestly suggest not even bothering to play it on PS2.
Go to http://www.zophar.net/psx.html and download ePSXe.
ePSXe is by far, the best PSX emulator out there.
And so long as you have a decent computer (256MB ram, a video card that does OpenGL, and a processor at least 900MHz) you'll be able to play all your PS1 games on your computer.
In fact, you'll be able to play with better graphics, higher resolutions, and close to no load times, especially if instead of using an actual PS1 CD in the tray, you just use an image of the game that you either made yourself or downloaded.
But yeah, if you don't want to bother with Breaker Pro (you'll probably need to buy it, if you want to try it, you can try downloading it, and converting the Breaker Pro CD to DVD, but it probably won't work) the easiest way is to play the games on your PC.
Let me say this, once you get through all the hassles of setting up the options, and once you get games running, trust me, it'll be so much better.
Instant saving and loading anywhere, any time, because instead of saving to memory card, in save points, you can simply save the state of the game, exactly where you left off (it'll be like you never turned the game off).
Anyways, it's really up to you, but I highly recommend doing it like that.

No, ehm.
I am trying to burn it on a CD so I can play it on my modded Play Station.
I got three individual files.
.ccd
.img
.sub
I know that the img is the ISO, but what do I have to do with those seperate files to get them on a CD-R so I can play it on my playstation?

Use Alcohol to burn it, there are other programs which will burn the actual image file, but Alcohol is probably the most readily available.

Okay, so I burn the image file with either cloneCD or Alcohol.
What about the other two files?
The .ccd and the .sub files?

no 100% not going to work, sony did not make a console that will play copies without a mod, that would have been mental :)
