Yes latest firmware is on the burner, i made sure of that. I am using fuji's and never had a problem besides hitch and i got over that one. i am using dvd+r's. Where may I find the media code?
Should it go right thru or do i have to take some of the files off of dvdd or shrink? I wouldn't say it is my discs the store bought, because it is 2 different ones.
thanks in advance.
ps: i have always did file mode in dvdd and never did the iso one.

hi
erm? not sure but i know +R are less comaptible and brnads can chanhge id codes and keep ame names!
use dvdinfo to get codes or dvd identifier
also check one that burnt ok for code! then check ones that dont work for code!
taking files out is up to you! either do a main movie only or full dvd backup your chioce
Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi
+R is beter on new equipment players! but you can make +R to dvdrom -R by changing the booktype with software...
dvdD can change booktype on some drives!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

@dedaround,
According to my understanding, the Fuji DVD+Rs/Taiyo Yuden are known as top quality media in the market now-a-days. However, in addendum to your question, I've answered you in the other thread "It's a good Tuesday" already.
To find out about your media code or manufacture id code: simply put blank disc into dvd burner, open up DVD Decrypter and it should show you the blank disc and its manufacture id on the righ hand panel. The FUJI DVD+R are code as: YUDEN000-T02-00 <--- this is a good brand media. I've used this media roughly 500 plus, mainly for PS2 games and DVD movies. They all backed up and played flawlessly.

Media is more than likely the prob. try using a high grade Ritek or Maxell.

Those are usually Prodisc and not considered top of the line media.

Disc ID: RITEK-R03-02
Book Type: DVD+R
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
anyone else have anymore tips? I followed the instructions and i am going thru coasters. This is the first movie that did it. The last one said failed because something was not unlocked. I was not here at the time and i couldn't get the error fast enough.

On cheaper media, you need to Burn SLOW.

Only problem I have now is that it says disc error on my regualr dvd player but plays on the computers player. The actual bought movie plays on the stand alone player hooked to the tv. I am not sure what the problem is. never encountered that before.

In addendum to your earlier post about the Fuji DVD+R "made in Taiwan" (Ritek disc) - unfortunately, I've never used any of "Ritek" or any Fuji's that's from Taiwan. Thus, I can't say that they're either good or bad. However, I've used the FUJI DVD+R 8X (made in Japan) and MAXELL DVD+R 8X (made in Japan) both backed up and played flawlessly.
You said your backed up copy can be played on your computer, but not on your dvd player? This sounds like a dvd player issue to me. Again, out of curiosity, how old is your stand alone dvd player, and what speed did you burned with your copy? If your stand alone dvd player is 2 or more years old, then you probably need to set your "book type" to dvd rom. This seems to be more playable in older dvd players. I would check for the dvd players media's compatibility and its firmware updated if there's any.

the stand alone is an apex 1500, i guess a little over 2 years. it has played everything, inlcuding last weeks hitch. Unless it is starting to wear. I will check my other players today. Also where would i select the book type? I am not familiar with that.
Either that or I should go out and buy new media, but i already have 100 sitting here. 30 or so have been backed up no problem.
thanks.
