I know area 51 works fine on my v7 with Swap Magic 3.3
Burned with DVD Decrypter set write speed at 1X and used GOOD MEDIA
which is the key to good back ups.

no i think it is the cheap Memorex media you are using. They are very unreliable. I tried a few once a friend gave me and would never buy them. I had the same problem.
Get some Philips,TDK or Verbatim. 8X DVD-R is what i like best.
And Philips is the best of the 3 listed.

them being memorex is irrelevent (sp?). the media code is what matters. memorex can be anything from cmc and prodisc to mcc and richohjpn which are great for games (latter 2)

this is a long shot but make sure the disk is in the disk tray completely, not caught on anything that prevents spinning
