sonys r good and usually maxells r too. i usually go with verbs or sony because thet r available locally. most people here(ad forums) go for ty yudens.

IMHO you can't go wrong with Taiyo Yuden, usually available online at

http://www.supermediastore.com
http://www.meritline.com
http://www.rima.com

For store brand the best is Verbatim, Sony and Maxell if you get the made in Japan. My two cents :~)

I'll throw one more in here - Fuji. As Arniebear stated look for made in Japan. Fuji's made in Japen usually id as TY.
