I'm looking for a program that can rip audio tracks from ps2 disks, since i don't feel like manually recording them by hooking my ps2 up to my pc and/or using an audio recorder... I've been searching for 2 days straight, and can't find a damn thing... If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post them here :D

I have a program that plays the music from GTA-VC on the comp. You load the disc in your Dvd Drive and it plays it in a simple juke-box fashion. It also has an option to save to the HDD. Have you tried google? What game are you trying to extract the audio from?

I'm trying to get the audio from The Tony hawk pro skater games, and yeah, i tried google, came up with programs that could back up my ps2 games, which i can already do, so that isn't much help... which program are you using then ?
[edit] oops, i forgot to mention that it has to be freeware... [/edit]

The program that i was using for GTA-vc"ps2" was called GTA-Radio I think, I can't seem to find it now. I tried ripping a game to the HDD and maybe demuxing the audio/video but no luck since it's not in a Video-DVD format. I tried making an .iso image and opened it in Isobuster to see if there were some audio tracks/folders in there but again no-go.

From what I've been reading different games are structured different ways, so the same method won't work on all games I guess.

If I remember correctly you can play the music from THPS 1/2 on it's own on the ps2. In one of the option menu's, not sure though since I can't seem to find my disc's. If I'm right you could record them from the mic input on your computer "if it as one".

I picked up a converter that goes from rca inputs to a mic output, I use it for my audio stuff. I got it at Radio Shack for like 3-4 bucks.

Then again you could always just d/l them from a P2P network like Kazaa or Limewire, but depending on where you live it could be illegal.

Sorry can't be of more help but if I come across something I'll let ya know.

The whole problem is that Analogue recording is out of the question, since i can't get any cables long enough to reach from my ps2 to my pc, and p2p networks are also not doable because of the legal issues.

i had also been messing with iso buster but i can't find any programs to convert the files i take from the original iso to wav or mp3 so...
The question remains the same.

Thanks for checking it out though dude, it's much appreciated

And another BUMP (i never thought there would be so little you can do if you want to just rip the audio, when actually making total game backups is soooo easy)

Depending on what exactly your application use is for try searching google for:

MFAudio 1.1 = This tool allows you to play, convert, and downsample audio files that use some of the more common formats among PS2 games. It can be used to reduce the size of music in DVD rips, replace the music with something else you prefer, or simply play the music from your favorite games.

PSS Plex = This tool allows you to demultiplex (split) a PSS movie file into it's component MPEG2 Video and WAV Audio streams, and multiplex (join) an MPEG2 Video and WAV Audio stream into a PSS movie file. The author wrote this tool with DVD ripping in mind. PSS Plex comes with a tutorial to teach you how you can use it to downsample PSS movie files in order to retain them. The tutorial includes Zone of the Enders, Extermination, Warriors of Might & Magic, Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2, and X-Winter Games examples.

I've not tried MFAudio but i've used PSS Plex before on a mortal kombat ps2 game and got an adema music video from it.

Ok, those tools are awesome, but a bit too hard too use for most of us (it took me ages to figure it out) and they don't really do what i need them to do...But they are probably good enough for most of the general ps2 audio conversions.

I've never tried the MFAudio one, but i have used the PSS Plex, it's a little tricky, but like everything it all depends on what you need, sorry if they didn't workout for what you wanted.

Well, they can basically do what i want, but since i want to have all the songs in the game's playlist as seperate mp3's instead of just 1 big wrap, i'll need even more tools, which in term defeats the purpose of both mf audio and pss plex, and pss plex only does the audio from the pss movie files, not the seperate audio tracks of the game itself

Not exactly ThaSunGod, but if i do find an exact mp3 ripper that can extract the actual audio tracks instead of the pss. movies from games, i'll post it here... Although i'm starting to think i'll never find it... i might be better of doing some programming of my own, based on the tools mentioned above.

Ok, found the progs, but since i don't speak polish, i couldn't make heads or tail of most of the program descriptions... i'll install them and see if they can do the job..

[edit] Ok, this program is nice, does a good job at making .wav out of audio, sadly enough it's mostly incompatible with ps2 games, ps1 games however work perfectly. it couldn't do the games i want the audio from, and the program can't discern audio length, an/or tracklistings, so it becomes one long track, which can be helped if you use covert the .wav's to mp3, and then use an mp3 cutter to make seperate files for the songs/tracks. Incompatible games are : thps3+4, Thug, Thug2, Gta:Vice City, Gta:San Andreas. I stopped trying after those games, so, experiment if you really want to, but be warned, it's mostly a ps1 program, and it's not user friendly for audio editing newbies. [/edit]

I found a link to the program I used to play my GTA San Andreas dvd in my comp. Not the same site I d/led it from so no guarantees on the safety of the file.

http://www.tinyted.net/eddie/SanAndreasRadio/

You should be able to export whatever song/announcement/commercial you want from it, my version allows it and it's in the log of fixes......

It works for GTA, but not for any other games. Thanks for looking though dude, it's much appreciated. I'm starting to think that i'd be better off working on writing a program myself, which would be possible, but it'll take some time... if anyone does find a quick and easy solution, feel free to post it, but in the meantime, i'll be putting all the stuff i learned about computers to good use.
