They are about $.60/each and I've been curious about them and how they would compare with my G05 Ritek white inkjet hub printable DVD-R 8x. I've had so-so experience with G04 Ritek white inkjet printable DVD-R 4x, and I'm trying to find a reliable brand like TY silver DVD-Rs. Thanks for any input.

you need to use the CD LABEL PRINT not PHOTO PRINT..Your printer might be a more upmarket one than mine so I may not be able to give you specifics, but you need CD LABEL PRINT.

Go with the TY printable. They are much better than the Ritek G05's. I had probably 15- 20 bad burns with those Riteks out of 100. Maybe I had a bad batch. So far with the TY printables I've had 0 bad burns out of maybe 200. The only difference is the TY's have a rougher surface than Riteks glossy surface.

I've been using TY printables without any problems. Personally, I think the Ritek G05 has a better printing surface, but you can't beat the burn quality of the TY. Here's a Kprobe scan of one. Note the PIF total. That's extremely low. This was burned at 8X on a LG GSA-4163B. For some reason I don't see the MID code printed on the scan. It was TYG02 (8X-R)

I agree with you on the printing surface. I like Riteks better but TY's burn too well to switch back. They still look good just no shiny surface.

TY printables are more expensive, but, with the printing surface available, there is reason to the price increase. i would suggest EITHER of the aforementioned printables, as i have many of both, i have stuck w/ the TY printables now only because i ran out of the G05 Riteks, but, i agree with the ever so correct binkie, as her opinion of these is RIGHT ON with my own~ :)

i agree w/ forkndave as well as the QUALITY of the backups are better on the TYs than my Ritek G05s..BUT, it all comes down to which you would prefer...better printing or better quality backups. it's a personal decision which of the 2 you find more important, but, they are not THAT much difference in both quality and printing as i have used BOTH in the past w/ minimal problems~ :) i use entirely silver tops now in the TY and Verbatim variety as i just got a new 10 pack of Sharpies :) good luck...you REALLY cant' go wrong w/ either choice~ they are BOTH good quality media.

I hear a lot about verbatim but isn't that DVD+R? If they have Verbatim white inkjet printable DVD-R 8x or 4x are they a better choice than TY?

Verbatim makes both dvd-r AND dvd+r media~ it's debateable whether TY is better than Verbatim or vice versa, it really depends WHO you ask~, i vouch for BOTH of them, but, i personally prefer TY only slightly by a hair, they are BOTH VERY good quality media~ as long as you stick with good media, you don't have to worry about it~ go with EITHER/OR...i like both~ :)
