Aaahhhh .. TDK discs ... Hmmmm .. They range from being some of the best (the TY manufactured discs) to being some of the worst (the CMC manufactured discs) ... You need to make sure that it says "Made in Japan" somewhere on the package ...

if you look at the following two links, you will see that the +R TDK discs are either RICOHJPN or CMC ... These are both Taiwanese manufacturers and are impossible to distinguise unless you unwrap the discs and ID them (the RICOHJPN are far superior) ... Now the -R discs could be TY, MCC, Ritek, Maxell or TDK manufactured and are made in both Japan and Taiwan

... I buy the Verbatims from Best Buy when they're on sale or from time to time I get the Japanese Maxells from Office Depot ... I'm into instant gratification ... Also, it's lots harder for the wife to keep track of just how many discs I do buy ...

just make sure it says "Made in Japan" and you will get TY every time 8x DVD+R or 8x DVD-R from Fuji or TDK although the TDK are harder to find, especially the -R

Do you mean a sony dvdrw drive? If so what model? Reason I ask is you may be able to booktype dvd+r/rw media to dvd-rom making them the most compatable format. Give me the model and we'll go from there.

Ok it's a stand-alone dvd player or sometimes called a set top dvd player. This should be able to help you. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php
