whats up with all the new movies having to be compressed so much now? been using shrink for a while, i copy movie only with 5.1 english. usually have no compression, but with hitch, be cool, and aviator, all had to be compressed a great deal---why? talkin like 80-90% compressed. any way around all this compression?

no not really, so now we are moving to better encoders so the compresion doesnt loose quailty on the visual side!

dvd rebuilder / cce is good!

avi2dvd / cce is good (main movie only)

i think dvdcopy3 shrinks but dont quote me as there are 3 simarlar named apps but one is very good on shrinking / quailty!

dvd rebuilder heh? might give that a try. is the shrink/decrypter combo becoming outdated already? what is its replacement as of right now. sorry for all the ?s but been buildin a house and hard to be on the comp when workin 12 hour days. thanks for the help

Decrypter/Shrink combo still works fine - yet to find a movie they cannot handle.

Problem with newer movies is all the extra crap they try to include - rip with Decrypter and then use Shrink in reauthor mode to get rid of all the unnecesary crap.

Just finished Spanglish tonight - getting rid of crap file size less that 4GB - no compression necessary.

hi

its menus and extras can be taken out with DVD Shrink in re-author mode, i only use the main movie and then hit the backup button, you can keep the menu and make a still image of all the extras, if you like to keep menus but the links will only lead to a picture so there isnt much piont really...

When I refer to crap files - I mean the menus, extras and unnecessary languages, sound formats etc.

Normally use Re-Author mode to do movie only.

gotcha, i do the same thing--movie only, i just hate having to compress some movies so much. thought maybe there was a way round it. see ya round the forums, in the new house and ready to burn til the wee hours of the mornin.
