what error message are you getting?

If I make a copy of a copy, I use DVD Decrypter. MOde: ISO Read to copy from the original copy to the hard drive, then Mode: ISO write to write it back to the new blank disc. Works everytime, unless there's a problem with the original copy.

OK. If you have a problem, Decrypter generates a log, so cut and paste the entire log in your next post. Without knowing the error message it would be hard to diagnose your problem.

What you posted of the Decrypter log shows no errors. Generally, when a sector can't be read, this is a problem of the burner/reader or a bad original disc. Your DVD reader is having trouble pulling the information off the disc. I/O errors. Try cleaning the disc (even if it looks clean) and buffing/repairing any scratches.

If this is happening to all of your burned discs, maybe the reader/burner is going out. Try borrowing a friend's burner and see if the cleaned discs can be read there. If so, clean your burner.

If your burner's only a few days old, then I'd say the problem is this new burner doesn't like those discs. Burners are more sensitive to discs than plain old tabletop players. Check your firmware. Even tho it's only a few days old, there might be an update that cures this problem.

@Nykid - latest firmware for 3520A appears to be 3.04 - see here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/202355

You could have errors on the original copies. Download dvdinfopro (free) and run one of them thru it's CRC check to see of there is any corruption there. Also, using dvdinfo, run one of those discs thru it's media info check so we can see if the media used, is of a decent maunufacturer.

Also, i'd like to see any error logs from Nero. Nero logfile is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. All burns, good and bad are appended to this logfile so only post the last section of log, omitting the SERIAL number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel.

Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected.

Open Device Manager again and check whether the device is now actually using DMA mode. If so, congratulations, you've made it (at least until the next time Windows disables DMA).

- that's more like it, i'd uninstall Nero, then run the Nero clean tools to uninstall any remaining Nero bits 'n pieces; see here - " http://www.nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html ", then reinstall Nero, but NOT installing Nero InCD this time. InCD is packet writing software which interferes with standard Nero Burning Rom

My guess would be that your original copy's are corrupt or have some bad sectors. Run some of your original copy's through Nero scan disc or dvdinfopro crc read error scan.

I find it a little odd that Nykid gets a new burner and "all" his backups are having the same problem, as he said above. I've heard the NEC 3520a is a pretty good unit. Ritek blanks are generally quite servicable. It seems to me a compatibility issue between the burner and the disks rather than corrupted media. If I were Nykid I'd try the disks in another burner or DVD-ROM before assuming they were all useless.
