I just started burning backups of my dvd's recently with these 4x DVD-R discs I bought at Office Depot $15.00 for 100. I just ran DVD identifier on them and it says they are Ritek G04's. After searching this forum I have found that they are decent discs, so I guess this was a really good deal.

Ritek G04 are decent media and you got a good deal for 100 spindle for $15. Most retailers are probably depleting their 4X media for 8X and 16X variety. But since the best burns are at a slower speed, then the 4x will do you well....

Ah very excellent deal...Online I can't find G04's for less than twice the price of what you bought yours. Thanks for the info

I must have misunderstood....are these branded "office depot" or "ritek" or are they unbranded?
If they are,and they have the name office depot on them and you got go4's you gambled and won.....I'm not the gambling type when it comes to media ;)

maybe i misread it jim, i was under the assumption that these were office depot branded, but when run through dvd indentifyer, they coded out as ritek go4? he got lucky if this is the case, but, unless he bought them unbranded..then he got REALLY lucky~ i don't know which route he took...:)

These disks are branded office depot. I ran dvd indentifier on the disc to find out the real manufacturer. I figured they would be cmc or something. I didn't know I was gambling, because I didn't know there was that big of a difference between cheap and good media (not mutually exclusive I guess)I don't think the deal is still running though, sorry for the late info.

I hope you stocked up. Two weeks ago the local Office Max was cleaning out, and I bought 3, 100 cakes, of Ritek branded GO4s for 20.00, off a bargain table. I always burn at 4x. An extra 4 minutes of burn time doesn't matter to me.

The only Ritek's i've come across have been Imation Ritek G03's - utter rubbish, so i personally would never go near any Riteks knowingly, however i'll take note that you lot say that G04's are good.

Hi there,
Let's put it this way:
Media = Hooker.
There's the $20.00 special, and the full service first class at $150.00
Which one would you choose ? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Yes media quality makes all the difference in the world !
