I picked up a slim PS2 from a friend the other day because it didn't work. Upon inspection, he did the tape mod to it, but used super glue on the internal (rear) sensor. I have read that this caused some problems. Anyway, the PS2 won't read anything. The disc doesn't spin at all. The laser makes no movement at all.

Does anybody know the fix for this? (without returning it of course). If it helps, it's a model 70012, date code 4D. He told me that all he did was make sure it booted the swap discs and load a couple games, which it did. Then the next day, this problem occured. No game was even played..just booted to see if it worked.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Thanks to yudda111, this PS2 was fixed!!

It took alot of reading to find this person (yudda111) had the same problem that I had. Thanks to him, he figured out how to fix it about 7-8 months ago. I PMed him about it and he was kind enough to tell me what he did and send pics. I tried it and it worked!!!

Again, thanks to yudda111 for saving this PS2.

Just to let everybody know what the fix was since nobody responded here:

Superglue was used on the rear sensor. Now, I'm not sure how that caused a problem, but it did. Simply hollow out the sensor and put a drop of solder in it. It fixed my slim PS2.
