I couldn't make a backup of Millenium Season 1 disc 2 with Shrink & DVD Decrypter.
I read in my email about DVDFAB & Folder21iso. Everything worked fine and I used DVD Decrypter to burn to the DVD-R and the DVD worked on my computer, but when I brought it over to my DVD Player it showed an unsupported dormat. I have the Panasonic HD 95 which normally plays everything I ever put in it.

Now I am wondering if the DVD-R needs a special finalization. I know that DVD Decrypter always finalized my DVDs in the past so I am confused.

Can anyone help with this problem? It plays on the computer, but not on the home player!!!

First time this ever happened.

It sounds as though the player doesn't like the media. What brand and type of media did you use and at what speed did you burn?

There is a guide on the site showing how DVDDecrypter and Folder2iso can be used to burn a DVD.

While this sounds like an extremely easy task, you have to remember that simply selecting the folder that contains the DVD files (.VOB, .ifo, .bup etc...) WILL NOT WORK!! On a DVD, for compliancy issues you need an AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder. The AUDIO_TS folder is usually empty but the VIDEO_TS folder must contain all you DVD files. So copy all your DVD files into a folder and call it VIDEO_TS. Create a new folder called DVD or something and put the VIDEO_TS folder into it. Then create an empty folder called AUDIO_TS.
hi it may have something to do with no audio folder as i didnt make one! so i will try one with and one without!

back in a mo....

I used Folder2iso to create an iso, then used UltraIso to extract the files back to a folder. It sure looked like the same structure as the original DVD ;)
I never committed to burning it to disk.Merely satisfied myself that the guide worked and was available if needed.

The DVDFAB seemed to work fine. I now need a program that will create an .iso file in DVD format so I can use DVD Decrypter.

Does anyone know of one that will do what I am trying to do?

Thanks

Hi Rotary

I did all that with the 2 directories. It made the DVD and I was able to view it on the computer, but not on the home Panasonic player.
Someone said Folder21iso does not make DVD format.

I did have the directory down right and I had an iso file, but it wouldn't play on the Panasonic.

I use Prodata Discs from SuperMedia and I tried it on TDK also.

No luck

Any help?

Zenwarior:
Previously I had not completed the burning of the disk after using Folder2Iso, this time I saw it through and lo, the resultant disk is ignored by my standalone player(Toshiba SD3860), but playable on the PC.
I shall have to re-read the guide more closely, however, someone else can sacrifice a perfectly good Taiyo Yuden :)

Used DVDFABdecrypter to rip
Folder2iso to create iso
Dvddecrypter to burn.

hi

ok i didnt burn it! look below to see it does not make a UDF file structure! so i aint wasting a disc!

it only makes joliet/iso standard and rock ridge! not UDF.

picture 1 is an ISO made from DVD Decrypter main movie only rip

Picture 2 is an ISO made from DVD Shrink on full dvd backup to iso rip

Picture 3 is an ISO made with Folder2Iso mian movie only rip

OK

Thanks Guys.

Is there any alternative to making an iso file from a folder type structure?

Shrink could not rip Millenium Season 1 disc 2 but DVDFAB could. So now I have a folder and no way to make an iso file and therefore can not burn it to DVD.

Are there any other programs out there that will do this?

hi

you can load a folder of dvd files to shrink! then output an iso for DVD Decrypter!

I'm puzzled. The guide seems straightforward and yet it doesn't produce.Either the guide is wrong which begs the question about the other guides, else I and others are missing some simple point.

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_dvd_folder_dvd_decry...

Also, what kind of system can use this iso output when written to a disk?

hi

games and software discs...

also this...

Rock Ridge is an extension to the ISO 9660 volume format.
The extension adds support for storing Unix-specific file information on ISO 9660 CD-ROMs.

These extensions are, briefly:

longer file names (up to 255 characters)
almost any ASCII character can be used in file and folder names
owner permissions can be stored
symbolic links
the long file names are argued to look better in Windows
