Here's the situation:

I use DVD decrypter primarily to convert my DVD's to MP4's to play on my PSP. Having mostly done sitcoms and hour long tv shows due to having only a 512 MB memory stick, I never had issues with DVD decrypter.

(get tot he point newbie!) I know.

Now that I have a larger memory stick, I've sucessfully converted Rounders to play on my PSP. However, the next three movies I've tried I keep getting an error message.

Cannot write to file:
E: \VTS_O5_1.VOB
Reason: There's not enough space on disk.

So, I figure my hard drive is too full. I dump a bunch of MP3's...tidey up a bit, and try again. I get to 89% completion (after 2 1/2 hours) and get the same message. Like I said, I tried this numerous times with numerous DVD's.

According to DVD decrypter, I only need 5,235,000 KB or so. My Hard drive says it has 12,000,000 available. I figure, maybe the conversion is bad or something, so i get an external hard drive that holds 80 gig. This should have plenty of room.

So I try again. AND again, i get to 89% and get the same error message. Needless to say I'm extremely frustrated, and I've browsed through a hundred or so posts using the search here, just can't find anything similar. The closest advice I found was to see if my disk was dirty and try again. I'll do that, but I wanted to check and see if there was anything else I could look at before I waste another 2 - 3 hours for not.

still abit lost but scan read, ok you are ripping an original dvd so to speak yes? ok it may be copy protection? try running DVD43 or AnyDVD in the background while ripping.

Ya, they are original DVD's. And I'll look into those programs.

are you ripping in iso mode if so dont if you re on FAT32!

also how much HD space have you left?

No I'm ripping in IFO mode.

When this works, i then use PSP video 9 to convert it to a file my PSP can read.

My hard drive has 10.3 GB in free space left and the external hard drive that I'm ripping to has 76.3 GB left.

sorry i have never used ifo is this just to get audio and no video out?

but i would say rip in file mode to get the lot!

how big is the dvd to start with?

can you rip to the 10gig it may be better then usb.

Not sure why I'm supposed to use IFO...just followed directions off a forum page once. Not super familiar with the tech side, obviously.

The only thing I have been doing in DVD Decrpter is choosing IFO, disabling file splitting, and enabling stream prossessing. This allows me to not rip the subtitles and commentaries I think.

I have ripped to the 10 gig, and I've gotten that error message. That's why I bought the external. I figured the transfer rate would suffer ripping to a hd connected via USB.

All the movies I attemped were about 2 - 2 1/2 hour long movies, or about 5 GB.

I appreciate all the time you've taken to help me. Thanks for the ideas.
