PS2 Makes cracking noise inside only when I play GTA SA

I have the slim PS2 and everytime I play GTA SA the inside of the ps2 makes like a crackling noise and it wont play. It only happens with GTA SA, I've used all of my friends GTA's also and it still the same problem. Anyone know how I can fix it?

have you properly burnt the game and are you using a modchip or swap disk?

it can't be the game becuase I have tried about 5 differnt GTA SA's and they all didn't work

I got my old ps2 doing the same thing. I'm guessing it is partly because of the scratches on the disk. GTA has so much data on it that even if you have the smallest scratch, it can effect the gameplay. The other part I think is my PS2's laser reader. You might have some problem with your optics so my advise is to just return the system via warrentee.

My San Andreas game also doesnt work with one of my PS2 but I pop it in my other one and it works perfect. And by the way "the disc has a big scratch".

that's odd, i backed it up and even the backup works on my V7 and my V12 just fine. Could it be that you are using cheap media?
That game requires a slow burning speed and good media.
But if the original does that it may be your laser going bad. When my V5 started to go, all my games played fine except for Vice city. That one gave my PS2 fits. Then eventually over the next month or two the rest stopped working right and the laser would have to be re-adjusted every time you wanted to use it. It wass such a pain i just got a new one. I still have it in my closet and some day will get a new laser in it so i can stick it in the car.
