Search phrases:(Yes, I used search for any words, not just "all words."
Windows media player 10 no sound
Windows media player 10 no audio
Windows media player 10 no sound video works
ach2
ach2 Nero
Working video DVD no sound
Well, it's futile, I spent 45 minutes, can't find what I want.

So flame away, I can take it.

When I first started burning DVD's of course I had many problems. The best advice I believe is to make sure you are not using crappy media.

For me, just as inportant was checking the the darn source DVD or file. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH That's what got me.

ScubaPete has a guide for DVDShrink and DVDdecrypter. I have that guide memorized, and sauccessfully backed up well over 100 movies now.
Sometimes DVDshrink doesn't like some of the newer movies, so I rip it with decrypter, shrink it, burn in back to ISO (What am I gonna do now that DVDD is gone.....? I'll cross `that bridge when need be.
I even use Nero Vision Express to make a DVD with various file extensions, (avi, mpg, etc.) This is very cool! What I learned though is that I cannot use Nero to burn straight to DVD, I have to burn it to an image file first. Don't know why, don't care, it works.

Now you think I have a real hard question right? Nope. A few months ago, I was testing the newly burned DVD, and noticed Windows Media 10,
(I may have upgraded from 9 to 10) won't play the audio. The video is great. So what right? I just play them on my DVD player for my TV, and everything is peachy.

Well I'm taking a trip and want to watch DVD's on my laptop, but I have no sound in ANY player, just good quality video. It's also strange trhat both my laptop and desktop won't play audio.

I did find in my search about how Nero won't create a DVD, (patent license error, etc. ach2(2), so I guess I have to go pay for that plugin.(the part I was encoding when the message popped up has no sound on the TV DVD player either had to do with ach2 English) That's fine. Will Nero's plugin fix my windows media player 10 also? That is my preferred media player. I have learned that Roxio, Nero, and obviously windows fight for control over all DVD experiments. If this is just a setting, I will tell you all I will kill myself for bothering you with a new post. Just can't figure this one bugger out.

Other than that, everything is peachy. DVDshrink (Free) DVDdecryptor
(free) Windows media player 10 (free).

Would anyone care to address my audio problems?

1. Nero and the patent thing with ach2 English.
2. No sound ever(although it used to,)in Windows media player 10.

Nihilator, frustrated but overall a happy camper with my backups.

When in doubt, use a hammer. When further in doubt, find a bigger hammer.

Try download and install K-Lite codec Pack (Mega Version). It comes with most, if not all the codecs you ever need for playing and burning video files plus an all-purpose media player (Media Player Classic) which integrates best with the codecs plus more......
Now let's see if those DVDs would still give you problem.......
Or will they?
Anyway, Happy DVD burning!

you need an AC3 codec installed, you can pay for it from Nero OR install it alongside a dvd player (powerdvd etc) OR download it from the net for free at http://www.free-codecs.com

and its good to see you tried a search first, most dont :)

That's the ticket. Thanks guys. It didn't "dawn" on me that I had to reformat my laptop HD, and overwrite (My xp edition for Toshiba's only, puke) with XP Pro. Also put XP Pro on my Desktop which I bought brand new at the same time! Oh well, all is good. Still don't know what a codec is. Doesn't matter! And I've read several different definitions! Thanks again.
