Hello,
I recently bought a 50 pack of ritek 4x for £13.50 but i have been having problems with them, when i burn my movie onto them the disk stops and starts every now and again also random green patches come up on my screen.
I used VSO DIVX2DVD and Nero but all my disks have turned like this.
Is their any way of proving their genuinity?
Thanks

Green patches are a sign of bad media. What is the media code on them?

No, you need to use a dvd info or what ever it is called on pc to see who manufactures the disks.

Sounds like your media is too cheap to be recognized. You could try a firmware update, but I doubt that will make a difference.

*cough* Verbatim datalifeplus *cough* from www.svp.co.uk, £7.99 for 25. Can't compete with the £13.50 but then i don't have any burning woes :)
but as regards the green patches i had had that using VSO DIVX2DVD too, i havn't progressed the issue as i will just use normal DATA dvd's instead (was trying to convert music videos to dvd video format but too much hassle).
but still consider top notch media, you won't regret it.

As i said 50 for £13.50 i have paid less for disks than that in the past lol and they have worked. if I had a proggy that could tell me that weren't ritek i could take them back to the local shop i bought them from.
It's not like ritek giving bad perfomances though

could it be a problem with VSO then, because i doubt the shop would be selling them as fakes. I can assure you that the .avi's are top quality so its not them

@J-Kwon - pls make your way to the 2nd link in my signature for my tribute to crap/cheapy media that costs more in the long run due to utter rubbishness and don't forget to repent on the way back lol :)
and then have a look thru the first link for some concrete proof.

I removed the disk that was in and inserted a new one
But the one i originally put in was dirty
That still doesn't explain those green patches, I can elinminate the files its defintely not them. It could either be VSO DivxToDVD or CloneDVD 2. I pretty certain it isn't the medis now

I had been advised to buy RITEKS as they are extremely reliable, But i used Verbatim before but i wanted to get the same quality of disk only cheaper
hence the choice of Ritek

i really don't wanna seem like a scratched record ( i know i do ), but Sony's love Verbatim. You see i don't have media problems, Period. Which gives me oodles of time to prowl the forums helping with media problems :)
And believe me i have not a lot of money to spend each month, but absolutely refuse to waste money on media that causes so many problems. I did that already and won't make the same mistakes again. I have to look at god knows how many 100s of the disgusting BulkPaq discs with their bright Orange fronts, every time i go looking for a movie to watch (shudders uncontrollably)

I personally don't feel that ritek has the rep they once had and don't (and never did) belong in the same catagory as verbatum or taiyo yuden. My $.02.
