I was using Nero to transfer file from DVD to harddrive, and the video files were converted to a MPEG movie file. After editing the MPEG files I couldn't figure out if NERO was able to convert this back to a video file. The only way I can share the copied video with friends is to burn is as a DVD video. Unfortunately the only way it would burn the MPEG file was as a DATA file. This when loaded on my TV-DVD does not load us - 'incorrect disk' message displayed on TV.

Nero visionexpress will convert your mpegs back to dvd compliant files.
You could also you divxtodvd.
Dvd decrypter wont work, unless they are in the ISO format.

Your question is rather confusing?? I am not really sure what you are asking or what you are trying to accomplish?

Is this an original DVD you are trying to copy?
Is this just an AVI file on a disk you are trying to make compatable for most DVD players?

If your just trying to make it playable on a standard DVD player then Jims advice is exactly correct and you can use either of the two proggys he suggested. If you don't need the fancy menus or anything then DivXtoDVD would probably be your easiest choice. :-)

Thanks for your responses.

To simplify my question... How exactly does Nero vision Express convert from MPEG back to Video format, for burning on to a DVD, and viewable on any DVD player.

I understand from your responses that DivXtoDVD will also work, but I'd rather see if it works first with Nero - since I already have this and I got the impression from some ads' that it should work.

Thanks all for your suggestions. bbmayo link was espeically helpful. I was incorrectly using the export function instead of burning to a file. Appreciate the step by step instructions.

Another issue is how to use Nero to read mini-DVD's which were recorded in VR format. From another thread, I got the solution to use a DVD camcorder with a USB connection. Play on the computer from the camcorder, and capture to a file in video fromat. Then burn to a DVD to play in standalone players. My Sony DVD camcorder does not have a USB output, so I need to get a hold of one form a friend which does.

My updated question is will the solution above work, and is there a more efficient way with Nero or other software, to convert a movie from VR format to VIDEO format to be burned to a DVD for standalone players.?

have been using Nero vision express 3 to copy divx(avi) to DVD-R which is readable on home dvd player. My only frustration is that it takes so long to complete the process. For example, It takes over 3hr. to process 6-22minute episodes of Seinfeld to one dvd.Are there any other programs that can do this in less time?

Thats faster than "real time"
You could go buy the dvd, that would be faster.
If you read this thread, you would see another option...divxtodvd,but you might have trouble finding a free version, without the watermark on it.

buying the dvd is not the problem. It's converting the episodes that aren't out on dvd yet.

jim dandy - Nero seems to have a lot of great stuff, however the instructions thru help files, and index search is not intuitively obvious. I still haven't figured out how to convert 'directly' from a miniDVD recorder in VR mode on the camcorder to video mode on the computer. Actually the computer still does not want to load or cannot recognize VR mode dvd movie, even when loading file type of "all files".
Kindly elaborate on how Nero vision express does this or is supossed to do this conversion.
