v4 ps2 has trouble reading DVD games and movies HELP!!!!!

I have a version 4 ps2 and it plays cds fine, but when I insert a DVD movie or game, it rarely works. If a DVD movie or game is brand new with no fingerprints or scratches or anything else it will usually work for a short while (when I go to the menu or play it for more than about 15 or 20 minutes, I get the BSOD. When A DVD is the slightest bit scratched, I won't even begin to play, I only get a disc read error message if I click "browser" in the screen that appears when you turn on your ps2, and then, because of the error, it's stuck there. Does my laser need to be replaced? Is it weak? Or is it somthing else???!!!

PLZ HELP!!!

Well you have two options:
Clean the laser with something soft, or try adjusting it. Here you will find how to adjust the laser:http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/laserPS2.htm
And if none of them work you can try buying a laser from EBAY they are so cheap.

Thanx guys, i'll try cleaning, then if that doesn't work adjusting the lens later today and ill post again leting u know how it went.
