Hey, I have a modded ps2 (matrix infinity). Will it play games which are originals online (the one that comes with the slim ps2)? Also will it play backups online? Thanks in advance.

Games currently being played:
Devil May Cry 3:Dante's Awakening
MoH: European Assualt
Halo 2

Yea it will play ORIGINALS online, But only if you disable the modchip.

No cause in order to play online with backups you will need an BOOT DISC like SWAP MAGIC. MODCHIPS dont have that option.

what the heck is serranoX3 talking about. yes, you can play back ups online, with no boot disk, just use the dnas id util and dnas id patcher to put hte dnas id in ur game image before you burn it. theres some tutorials around here explianing in detail how to do it.

Even if you patch the game for online play you will still need a boot disc like Swap Magic, If you try playing a game online with a modchip enabled it wont work. You may want to read a little more.

how you gonna tell me you cant play a back up online without a boot disk, i play my back ups online with a modchip with no bootdisk all the time buddy. you migth need one if u have a cheap modchip like a no solder, or you might need it if u have a fake one, idk, as i dont deal with fake chips, but if he has a true genuine matrix infinity, jus a dnas patch should do it.

Do you boot the game "backup" using your MODCHIP? Or do you use something else?

and for the original poster who wanted to know how to disable

Turning Off the Infinity:
Press start from Joypad 1 until the writing "DISABLED" will appear on screen.
Press once reset button.
The Ps2 will reset and the Infinity is now disabled until PS2 turned off to Standby Position.

K thanks. I guess I have to check if my chip is the real matrix infinity or not. Does anyone know where I can get a diagram on how to fully disassemble the ps2 v12? Thanks in advance. (sorry for all the questions, i'm just getting into modding)

If this is true you are awesome... I thought backups couldn't be played online with a chip so never tried it. You say it's true tho, so I'm gonna try it now. Thx for the info.

Now you dont need to check for the game ID Here you go:

If some of you aren't aware, you're required to patch .img files on your iso's to play a certain game online. Kinda like a CD key for pc games, the DNA$ code is inbedded onto a dvd, and cannot be copied by simple DVD Decrypter. There is a tutorial on how to capture a DNA$ from a retail game and put it on your burnt one, I'm not going to explain that. But i can save you some steps. Below is a list of DNA$ looking like this (example) XX XX 4F 2A E3... If this looks totally confusing to you, please read http://media.fastclick.net/w/get.media?sid=9388&m=5&url=http%3A//... , don't worry if your banned from ps2nfo, it will still load... trust me i'd know. Anyway the last 3 sets of given DNA$ code are the same for ALL makes of that specific game, so if sony wants to ban the DNA$ with "4F 2A E3", everyone with the retail game will not be able to play... suckers. What you have to do is simple make up any 2 sets of numbers 0-9 and A-F.
I'll use Killzone as an example:
(Disc ID = XX XX 08 30 1C)
Thus a working DNA$ would be "04 AD __ __ __) ....filling in the blanks with above, i cannot complete the DNA$ due to legal issues but hopefully you understand. It can be any combination, number-number, letter-number, letter-letter. Just make up the first 2 sets and patch your .img files (READ THE TUTORIAL)
Well time for the good stuff..

so did this settle your theory of not being able to play back ups online with a chip?
