I've read and read everything I could to be able to burn a copy of a DVD. Let me fill you in. If more information is needed, let me know.

OK, I downloaded DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink, and I have Nero Express 6. I began decrypting a dvd, a brand new, out-of-the box movie. It was fine until I got a read error. I tried every option available, and somehow it completed decryting. I checked the drive where it had sent the files, and saw a bunch of VOB files, along with three BUP files that my computer couldn't recognize.

Before anyone repeats advice, let me tell you that the dvd is clean. Absolutely no scratches..I checked it from every angle. Just to be safe, I cleaned it again. My roomate has the same setup, same movie, same type of burner, same software, and was able to burn it perfectly. WHY CAN'T I? WHY WHY WHY? It is driving me monkeybiscuits, lol.

My burner is working fine. When I loaded a bunch of data files onto a DVD, it burned great. Also, I tried another DVD, and was able to make a perfect copy. I understand about copy-protected materials, but if that was the problem here, why would my roomie be able to copy from the same DVD? He did it again, right after mine failed, just to test it out, and again it copied perfectly.

I tried decrypting in both File and ISO modes. Here is the message I get with the ISO mode:-

I/O error!
Device: (1:0:0) ATAPI DVD DD 2X16x4x16 G7P9 (D:) (ATA)
ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 28 00 00 03 48 B4 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read (10) - Sector: 215220
Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 05
Interpretation: Unrecovered Read Error

Also, now the problem is that it wont even complete decrypting like it did the first time in ISO mode. It just keeps trying and trying and trying, and never gets past 5% anymore. In File mode, it wont decrypt completely either. It just stays stuck on 79%, and wont decrypt the last VOB file, or the last BUP file.

Please help. I'll even buy a software that gets past copy protection, so I can back up my DVDs. I just want to figure this out, before my eyes completely give out.

this might help but when I first started copying movies it went beautifully no errors whatsoever would laugh at all the post about new movies that could'nt be done always some body was having prob's with movies that I was getting flawless with the same programs. but as my hd filled (it was only 45% full) I started getting minor quirks slower burn times buffers that wouldn't stay filled then it got bad the back-ups were getting choppy ( a couple of errors cropped up also) finally I had to move my whole collection to disk not just one or two and then de-frag now I'm back to flawless copy and a whole new golden age.
this might or might not be helpful but I thought ppl should know

If your problems are'nt already solved please copy/paste your entire log from decypter back here

Hey, Can you list the steps you took to rip it? What DVD are you trying to copy?
Here goes....
Try using Shrink. It worked as well as Decrypter.
1. Insert the disc you want to copy into drive
2. Open Shrink
3. Click on "Open Disc"
4. Analysis should start; wait for it to be done
5. Click on "Full Disc" if you want to backup the entired thing; click "Backup" and you're done.(The rest is easy stuff like destination for the file)
Click on "RE-author" if you want to remove some stuff extras, title, ect. If you click it, to the right, DVD Browser should opened. Now choose the thing you want and drag it to the left, under "Re-authored DVD". (Probably the main movie, title 1). Click "Backup"

If you need more help, P.M. me. ;-)

I've tried DVD Shrink. Gets to 48% before freezing & failing.
I've tried DVD Decryptor. Latest error msg:

this is only part of the error log can you produce the rest of it?

Have you run it through isobuster to see if there is a damaged vob with in the disc.(every disc is not the same and movie companies are known to incorporate damaged vob files with in the discs in an attempt to curtail piracy)

when you use decrypyter what are your settings?
