What is the best DVD Ripper for the new (and old) generations of Movie DVD's on the market now?
Also, what all do I need to be able to rip them to DVD? I have a DVD Re-writer that does both + and - writes.
Thanks for the help.

the best ripper by far is still dvd decrypter partnered with dvd shrink (both freeware) make an unstoppable combo I have yet to find a title that I could not back-up. but since niether will be up dated again some ppl are trying out new prog such as anydvd that runs in the background and presents the dvd to your drive unprotected by copy right dvd43 or dvd fab decrypter that are supposed to be similar to decrypter but I would stick with the dvdd dvd shrink combo til they invent a copy protection it can't handle
( I would stick to -r as there are more players that can handle this media)

AnyDVD doesn't worked well with XP. Will mess it up by causing conflict w/ other programs. Uninstalled it if this ever happened to you.

But i caused a fatal error in my startup. Whenever i turned on my computer, logged on, i'd get the blue Screen we all dread... THREE times i tried this and with the same results!
Also, i'm trying to rip Star Wars to my HDD and as an AVI, does the DVD Shrink do that too?
Oh yeah... and Hitch is a DVD doesn't work w/ that combo. I used the Trial of DVD Fab to decrypt the DVD and then i used Super DVD Ripper to convert the VOB files into AVI...that is a good combo too. I've found that Super DVD is an excellent tool, the only downside is that you must use an AVI joiner to put the seperated AVIs together into one, full movie.

sorry to inform you but have burned hitch, spanglish, are we there yet, and every other new title that has been released in the past several months. with the only software I use dvdd DVD Shrink. I don't know why all these people say they had one movie that would'nt work for them and go try three or four new programs. why not try to get it right. the only problem I remember that was substantiated was the quality of the original pressed disk. and never heard one person say they coul'dnt exchange the disk

IMHO the best ripper for the time being is DVD Decrypter, it has always worked for me. After that I recommend the AnyDVD and CloneDVD combo, mainly for authoring of episodal disks. For speed of encoding I like Nero Recode it is much faster than Shrink. I run XP Home and have never had a problem with any of my programs. My two cents.

i have 1 click dvd copy and it works great. it can over-ride any dvd that has ecryption. you can also change the format of video files, so if you downlaod a tv show from the internet you can change the format so u can burn the dvd too.

1-anydvd is not a ripper, it is a decrypter.
2-decrypter IS still the best, ripper that is.
3-1clickdvd copy is underRated, it is great. At times when decrypter fails me, 1clickdvd has worked,(it has happened a few times lately). MY three cents.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

As suggested above by the veterans, DVD Decrypter rules on the ripping of ANYTHING. Then use DVD Shrink to open files and backup to another HD folder and use this folder with DVD Shrink again and again to backup to DVD in future.
IMTOO is coming into it's own, with individual programs for various tasks. Bit slow though and interfaces are a bit glum, with putty blue, grey and white. Needs the guy that did the Nero Startsmart to bring them all together in a flashy stylish interface.

Dvd Decypter seems to have issues with iso files.
So I would say you have to use different software packages tayloring to your project. Dvd decripter is a good program, but it is not perfect!

Hello edwood.
The best software you could use to rip DVD's with is Nero Recode with Slysoft's AnyDVD running in the background.

One of the cheapest you can use is DVDFab Decrypter. The latest version 2.9.2.3 will not have any problems with DVD Shrink/Nero Recode 2 for the ARccOS discs. Also pure freeware.
WTF... You cant use any HTML tags in here...
