My Story-
PS2 V3001, SM3.6, Flip Top, Taiyo Yuden -R, TDK +R, FujiFilm +R
My fisrt DRE was when I introduced my PS2 to SM3.6. It would work 1 out of 2 or 3 times. After a while it wouldn't read it at all. I checked my SM on a friend's slimline PS2-worked fine everytime(tried about 8 different occasions.) Then I assumed my laser is going bad and I need to readjust. I did. And it worked, for one day. I have been readjusting my laser almost everytime I use SM3.6. Somedays it reads it at one position and other days it reads at another.

1. Can I assume my laser is totally fried and I need another one or another PS2?
2. Do older PS2 models have a difficult time reading SM3.6 and cause strain on the laser, possibly worse?
3. What is my best cost effective safe option? used PS2 newer than V30001, Slimline, new laser(is it a laser problem for sure?), are lasers hard to install?

Any advise would greatly be appreciated as you can see I have become extremely frustrated with my situation. Maybe I should have just gotten it modded?@#$%!

hmm well mabye you swhould try gettign a mod if it isnt a laser problem or try the hdadvance with slide card or fliptop.

I'm unfamiliar with hdadvance. Is it software for your CPU? Do you even need a laser, mod, or SM if you're running games from your CPU???
