Sorry but I am very new to this game and I have downloaded Nero, Shrink, and Decrypter. No matter what I use I cannot burn a DVD because the Parimeter cannot be established or some crap!!! what the hell am I doing wrong??? Thanks for all of the Help.

Welcome to Afterdawn!

It is pretty important that you write down the exact error message, and at what point it happened.

The parameter is incorrect error that occurs as soon as you start the process.

From the Decrypter website:

After a little investigative work, I've narrowed the problem down to some part of the Via Hyperion drivers.

If when you look in Device Manager at your CDROMs, you find they're all listed as SCSI instead of IDE, it's because you've installed the old 3014 miniport driver.

Well, that or the IDE miniport - it's hard to find a definitive answer!

Basically something in these drivers is causing one of the Windows DeviceIOControl API calls to return invalid data which then means programs (mine included) don't work as they should do.

It's up to you how you solve it; remove the driver (miniport?) and moan at Via to fix it (recommended!) OR go into the settings and on the I/O tab, put 'Transfer Length' on 'Manual' - '32 K'.

Please Note: This 'work-around' is ONLY for people getting an 'The parameter is incorrect' error the second they start reading / writing a disc. It's much better to leave it on 'Automatic', so if you're not sure about what you're doing, go and ask for help in the forum.
Does all this apply to you? We need to know more about your system and when this occurs.

This is from Digital Digest and this is there take on the parameter is incorrect error posted in April of 2005

This error can occur in the encoding stage of DVD Shrink. It can occur after ripping a DVD in ISO mode with DVD Decrypter v3.5.4 or lower and opening the DVD by File-->Open Disk Image (Ctrl-I).

The folks over at DVD Decrypter are aware of this issue and a fix is expected by v3.5.5.

In the meantime, rip the DVD again but this time in File Mode, All Files. Open the DVD in DVD Shrink by clicking Open Files (Ctrl-O).

Process accordingly.
Except we know there won't be a v3.5.5

Either way your firmware looks quite old, the latest is version 1.72
