just downloaded this program, trying to convert an avi file to dvd with it. Im a bit short of space on my hard drive, but its telling me it need s 9.4gb of space to convert ? this sounds wrong to me.
the original avi file is just over 1gb, which is a dvd rip that i downloaded. Also if the output file is over 9gb then is there any point converting as it aint gonna fit onto a dvd disk anyway ???
can anyone help ? as this prog is a bit new to me.

Downloaded avis often contain errors, causing all kinds of funny things to happen during conversion and burning. So you may want to check and fix those errors with a video fixer before messing with them. And before Rotary (who's always on my tail *_*) jumps in again, yes, you can try Divfix (free):

make sure you uncheck create iso, because then you would have an iso and a video_ts folder which is why you would need twice the space. Also consider this program: http://www.vso-software.fr/divxtodvd/divxtodvd.htm. Its free and very simple to use though if you use the 2-pass encoding in avi2dvd the quality is slightly better
Hi, I have a different problem. I tried to follow the guide provided. But i couldn't load my 2 files to the same folder....is that right? So I have to create 2 different temp folders?
Second, somehow it created a joined AVI file out of the 2 files, and now i can't play my 2 individual files...and the joined file is playing fine, except that my subtitles still in 2 files, what should I do?
Last, I checked the create ISO file, but I couldn't find it in the temp folder.
What did I do wrong??? Please help me...anyone... Thanks in advance.
you can put two files in the same folder, from what i've read you just have to name them like so: xxxxxx CD1;xxxxx CD2 etc. Somehow the program is supposed to recognize that and create a single dvd. It seems sometimes it works, sometimes not. It may be a bug or maybe i'm just naming them slightly wrong. I'm trying to figure that part out. i have experienced that joined file issue too, but it did not corrupt my original files, hopefully thats not the case with you, but as far as your subtitles it may be possible to extract the subtitles and apply them to the joined file. There are a lot of subtitle tools avalable at videohelp.com, some will allow you to download subs from the internet as opposed to creating yourself. i think that the program has issues with certain avis because only once has it created a joined file, and not once did it finish the job, that may be why you did not find the iso.
