Hello all,
I managed to try what i wanted to do, which was burn multiple files to dvd video for use in normal player, (see thread, "240 minute dvd video normal player").
However, one only came out as sound, and the whole dvd didnt load in normal dvd player, which can load the same brand of verbatim disks.
There was three files/videos i put on, the first one is the one that didnt have video when i played it on the computer, this file is an .mpg. Just the sound played.
The second 2 were .avi and both the sound and video played.

And, like i said before, the whole dvd did not load in the normal dvd player, I used dvdSANTA (v 4.00 full) to encode the files to a video ts dir, and to burn. PLEASE someone help me, im going crazy with this dvd video stuff, everytime a new problem(s), what am i doing wrong?
Thanks

I think DVD player only read .VOB format, which means, those DVD contains file 'VIDEO_TS'. So, if you just put those video files in a DVD without conversion, i don't think its gonna work. You should use WinAVI (i think) or TMPGEnc and do the conversion first. After that, use Nero to burn it. I am no expert, but.. , hope this help

Dear LDee,
First of all, there's no need to start a new thread for the same problems 'cos it'll make people hard to follow.
Anyway, from what I read from the two threads, here're some of my views and suggestions:
1) If you have an .mpg that you can't get video from playing, and if the original file is not corrupted, then you most probably do not have all the necessary codecs. Try download and install K-Lite codec Pack (full or mega version) to see if this problem can then be fixed. The pack also comes with an all-purpose media player known as Media Player Classic, plus a few very useful tools. Read the instructions before installing, though:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
2) DVDSanta should allow you to just paste the clips of different formats, transcode, save to harddisk, then burn. It's always wise not to burn first, but to check the results saved to harddisk under the Video_TS folder first to see if things are o.k.. Just click the 'Video_TS.IFO' file to play the resulting movie.
3) DVDSanta is quite a flexible encoder. But if you still have problems (e.g. 'unable to open video stream', 'unable to open audio stream'), then try transcode with DivxToDVD (free program). As with DVDSanta, you can add more than one clips in the desired order before encoding.
4) If DivxToDVD still cannot do it, then you may want to change the codecs of the clips that you're having problems with (most likely the avis) with programs like Power Video Converter or X Video Converter (try set video output to XViD and audio to Mpeg Layer 3), then do it again with DVDSanta or DivxToDVD.
I'm ruling out the possibility of media problem 'cos you seem to be suggesting that it is not the reason.
Good luck!

DVDSanta is quite a flexible and convenient program. Unfortunately, it also has its shortcomings.
Anyway, please tell us the original format of your video files (e.g. AVI, mpeg, Video_TS folder)?

O.K., try convert the avis to dvd compliant format with DivxToDVD to see if it's better.

Dear josue5,
So the sound is faster with DVDSanta, but no sound with VSO? This is quite strange. Anyway, you may try convert the codec of the AVI with X video converter or Power video converter (set video to XViD and audio to Mpeg Layer 3), then try VSO again. If you are missing codecs, try install K-Lite codec Pack (full or mega version).

Dear hackwolf,
Can you be more specific:
1) what are you trying to transcode (e.g. AVI, mpeg)?
2) what about the picture?
Don't worry, there are lots of guys around to offer assistance.

For the final burning, I'll say Nero.
BTW: One last shot about the sync. problem: Try use a video fixer (e.g. DivFix) to correct the errors of the AVI before converting with DivxToDVD. Remember to backup first.
Good luck!
