Can't get Evox dashboard on my xbox!

I tried downloading the evox dashboard to my xbox through the mechassault gamesave. When I clicked " install linux" in campaign, it said " Installation failed, try using restore dashboard. I kept trying to install it by re downloading the saves to my memory card and then transferring them to my xbox hdd, but nothing worked. So I read up on this and I think its because I have xbox live so the installation wont work because of the xbox live dashboard that is installed.
If you have any idea if i could just delete the xbox live dashboard or anything else to get around this, it would be really helpful.
