Yes, I am making a backup, but I swear it's not the drive. I just tried it with another DVD and it worked. Unfortunately, the other DVD came complimentary with my drive, so I don't have any others.
A certain type of media didn't work on my DVD writer also, but after I updated my firmware, they worked fine. So just try it and if it works great, if not then CRAP
Alright, I'll try, but the reason why I'm reluctant is because the website of the manufacturer of the drive says if I screw up on the update, my drive is completely screwed.
It works now! And the update went perfectly well! Man, from the several warnings on the website, I had thought the update would be extremely complex, but it was just merely an .exe update.
Nice, I had a feeling that doing that would eliminate the problem.
Yeah, if your computer accidently shuts down, or something of that sort during the update, the drive could then be shot. Chances are 1 in a million but they gotta warn you I guess. I was a little scared to the first time I updated mine, but now I do it everytime a new update comes out w/out even thinking about it.
