Okay this is totally gonna sound like a newb question but I need some help making a DVD with Nero. Using vision Express you can select your own background, background music, animate your menus blah, blah, blah. I need to know how to make menus with this thing. What I mean by that is that when the DVD loads up, I want to able to have buttons that give you an option to play the whole movie and another button for chapter selections and also one for special features. I'm having trouble doing this since when I rip the DVD into files and add them to the project using Nero, I automatically get 5 chapters *.VTS files that DVD Shrink generates. Hrmm...I don't even know if that question made sense...or if anyone understands what I'm trying to get at...cause I barely do...well If ya get me, please help. Thanks. :)

Hi haza12d -

It sounds like you're ripping a regular DVD but then wish to radically customize it with your own menu setup.

If I have that correct then you'll want to use something like DVDlab to custom make your menus.

Most pple rip a DVD and back it up so that it is everything that the original is -

When doing that, Nero is a fine program - to re-Author (more like you're totally rebuilding the DVD) you'll need to use a specialized proggy -

When Nero says re-Author, it means remove the extras, maybe clip off something from the beginning, end OR somewhere in between, perhaps add a clip, again Nero is fine but it cannot do what you've outlined BUT DVDLab will.

Here ya go, . . . .

what's going to happen because you converted it before adding the file to nerovision is the .VOB files will show as seperate files. depending on how long the movie they will show up as 4 or 5 or even 6 chapters.also when the movie transitions between each chapter the screen will black out between each chapter. nerovision was really not meant for a full movie using a vts file, even though it will accept and burn .VOB files.it was meant for .AVI files or .mpg files so it could convert to .VOB itself, in which case you could create chapters where you desire and there would be no black out between chapters.it will burn the .VOB fine with a couple of annoyances.i would personally let nerovision do it from start to finish for a nice menu. it is a pretty good all-in-one program.
